Today we stand on a mountain precipice. We can see 6,000 years into the past, and like Moses on Mt. Nebo, we can see over the Jordan into the Promised Land. We are that close. We are at the end of the age.
When Jesus told His disciples that "no one knows the day or hour", that was the case at that time. Because if the disciples knew in A.D. 30 that 2,000 years were ahead of the church, they would have lost faith. It will not be the case forever. I do not know the day or hour of our Lord's return, but I am confident that we have entered a narrow whisker of time where the 6000th year will occur. Jesus is coming. His appearing will be right on time. When He comes, we can joyfully say, "This is the day the Lord has made!" Let us be glad and rejoice in it." (Psalms 118:24)
Dear Lord, Thank you so much for the great sacrifice that men and women have made to carry the light of truth forward all through the past 2,000 years. And we are the beneficiaries of their sacrifice and their determination and their faith. And today, now that we stand on the banks of the Jordan, we can see what they longed for. We can see across the water. We’re almost there. And now that we understand more clearly, Your word and the story that it tells, we see that our great need is faith, determination, and love for You. Thank you, Lord. I pray that Your people will keep coming back to feast on the truth of Your word daily until we have crossed the Jordan River and dwell with You in Your house forever. This is my prayer in Your wonderful name. Amen.
