The morale of U.S. Border Patrol agents on the southern border has been sinking steadily over the past year, but it now has hit rock bottom amid outright animosity from the Biden administration, the Washington Examiner reports.
"Under Biden, things are the worst they have ever been by far," said one of eight agents who spoke with the paper about the situation.
"Agents are calling in all the time. You always hear, 'It doesn’t matter,' or, 'What’s the point?' in reference to doing our job," the Arizona-based agent said. "Agents are afraid of ending up on the news for doing their job or getting in trouble for doing their job. There is no morale."

Amid a change in policies from Donald Trump to Joe Biden, the agents have been battling the largest migration event in U.S. history. The physical workload has been overwhelming.
President Trump's "Remain in Mexico" policy, for example, kept asylum seekers in Mexico while their applications were being processed.
But even worse, the agents told the Examiner, they have been demonized by Biden for enforcing laws that Biden himself, as a senator, and other lawmakers passed in Congress.
Biden falsely claimed last September that mounted agents "whipped" a Haitian man trying to illegally enter the U.S. near Del Rio, Texas. And there was no expression of gratitude from Joe Biden for the Border Patrol agents in Uvalde, Texas, who ran into gunfire and fatally shot the killer at Robb Elementary School while local law enforcement refused to act.
"Del Rio pissed us all off," an agent told the Examiner. "Uvalde just adds to it. I think at this point, we are beyond pissed. We expect Biden to continue to attack us. Making a concerted effort to ignore what we did is expected."

The number of illegal-alien apprehensions has increased threefold since Biden took office, with more than 200,000 encounters in some months. A total of more than 2 million migrants were stopped trying to enter illegally in 2021.
Last October, as WND reported, the chief of the Border Patrol union, Brandon Judd, said he had never seen morale so low among his colleagues. He charged that Biden used the manufactured controversy over border agents on horseback to "deflect attention from his failures."
The previous week, while publicly reassuring the nation that the southwest border was under control, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas asked senior officials if they were prepared to handle as many as 400,000 migrants crossing in October, nearly double the 21-year high in July.
The flood at the border was about to become exponentially worse, many agents feared, with the Biden administration's decision to lift Title 42. The rule enables border agents to immediately turn back asylum seekers – the vast majority of whom don't comply with the legal standard for acceptance – who come from countries afflicted by a communicable disease outbreak, such as COVID-19. More than 1 million people have been turned back under the rule.
However, a federal judge in Louisiana last month blocked the lifting of Title 42, ruling the administration violated administrative procedure laws. And the judge determined that the move would cause "irreparable harm" because states would be forced to spend funds on services for the illegal aliens such as health care, law enforcement and education.
