As A Man Thinks
Jane H. Young
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).
Where do you allow your thoughts to linger during your day?
Is most of what you are thinking about yourself positive or negative?
Your thoughts have a big influence over what you do and what you think about yourself.
Your thoughts have a big influence over what you do and what you think about yourself.
I learned many years ago I had to let go of all the bad images I had of myself and look at myself the way God looks at me. For example:
1. I am made in His image.
2. Jesus died for me (I must be valuable to Him).
3. God loves me so much He calls me His child.
No longer would I linger on negative thoughts from my past, or listen to false words from childhood like ‘you’ll never amount to anything.’ I wouldn’t buy into those lies any more.

I made up my mind to start seeing myself as God does, so I could be what he called me to be.
“For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for prosperity and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NASB)
For the most part, children get positive input from their parents and other adults.

It’s the few negative things that are said that unfortunately stick.
We tend to carry those words into our adult lives — the devil makes sure of that, so let’s be in control of what we allow to run through our minds each day.
“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
(Philippians 4:8 NASB)
Prayer: Father help me to cast down thoughts that are negative about others or myself, and see myself as you see me.
