PROVE IT!
Tammy Ortung
We live in a society where many people walk around with a sense of entitlement—a “What’s in it for me” or “It's all about me attitude.”
When we get angry, frustrated, or crazy (not us, of course, but those other people), what we’re really saying is you don’t have the right to be on this street.
You are in my way! Am I right?
And what about in the workplace where competitiveness, jealousy, and selfish ambition run rampant?
We are surrounded by people who step on others, back-stab, gossip, and outright lie to get to the top.
And how much worse is it if this describes us?
“If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with humility that comes from wisdom.” (James 3:13 NLT)
When I first read this scripture, two words jumped out at me—Prove It!
I wondered if my life proved that I was wise and understood my Father’s ways?
Even Solomon, a man noted for possessing godly wisdom, was distracted and led astray by worldly temptations.
Yet he tells us in the Book of Ecclesiastes that in hindsight, everything was completely meaningless.
Seeking worldly wealth, success, and pleasures is all futile; it only leads to eternal death.
“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7a NLT).
We fear the Lord because in the end
“God will judge us for everything we do, to include every secret thing, whether good or bad” (Ecclesiastics 12:14 NLT).
How would our lives differ if we committed each day to “Proving It”?
