'PRESIDENT CLINTON' IGNITES SECESSION TALK IN U.S. STATE

3 out of 5 voters would rather leave than stick with Hillary presidency

As the battle between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump heads into the home stretch, Texas is shaping up as a microcosm of America as an increasingly bipolar country.

According to poll results from Public Policy Polling released Tuesday, three out of five Texans said they would support seceding from the United States if Hillary Clinton becomes president.

Donald Trump leads 50 percent to Hillary Clinton’s 44 percent after a recent poll of Texans by a left-leaning polling firm. According to the results from PPP, only one out of four Texans support seceding from the U.S. generally.

But when faced with the idea of a President Hillary Clinton, a majority of Texans said they’d rather leave, the Houston Chronicle reported.

PPP found Texans overall have an unfavorable opinion of both candidates (59 percent for Clinton and 53 percent for Trump).

As for President Barack Obama, 54 percent of Texans polled said they disapprove of his job performance. In 2012, 51 percent of the Texans polled said they voted for Mitt Romney, compared to the 38 percent who voted for Obama (an astonishing 11 percent said they don’t remember who they voted for).

The survey also found that the state is perhaps not quite as dominated by conservatives as its reputation would suggest.

It found found nearly one-third of Texans, 30 percent, identifying as “moderate,” compared to 13 percent identifying as “somewhat liberal” and 29 percent as “somewhat conservative.” A small number, 9 percent, said they were “very liberal” while just 19 percent said they were “very conservative.”

While most Texans identify as Republican (41 percent), 24 percent say they are independent while the remaining 35 percent identify as Democrat.
