WHO'S THE CRAZY CANDIDATE?
Exclusive: David Kupelian on the left's history of diagnosing good people as 'insane'
“Obama: Trump ‘unfit,’ ‘woefully unprepared’ for presidency; has to be a point where Republicans say ‘enough,'” read the headline to the Drudge Report’s lead story Tuesday, demonstrating the current commander in chief’s unprecedented plunge into the campaign to elect his successor.
Simultaneously, the Democrats have now taken to diagnosing Donald Trump as being “mentally ill,” or even “insane,” and therefore unfit for the presidency – end of discussion. More Tuesday headlines include:

- “Dr. Drew Pinsky: Trump may be mentally ill – so what does that say about his supporters?”

It turns out, the Democrats’ new tack of attacking Trump’s sanity comes just in time. After all, his opponent, Hillary Clinton, is now widely regarded as the most dishonest and corrupt major-party presidential candidate in American history.
(Quick sidestep into the surreal: Obama recently insisted, “There has never been any man or woman more qualified for this office than Hillary Clinton.”)
But back to reality: If fully two-thirds of American voters consider you to be a raving liar, you cannot win the presidency – unless you paint the alternative as even worse. And the only thing worse than a pathologically dishonest career criminal would be a president who is insane.
But there’s a problem with the left accusing Trump of being mentally ill.

Having recently researched this subject while writing my new book, “The Snapping of the American Mind,” allow me to bring a few startlingly eye-opening facts to the forefront of this challenge to the Republican candidate’s sanity.
First, rewind to the start of Obama’s presidency. In 2009, Obama’s Department of Homeland Security singled out conservatives, pro-lifers, constitutionalists, critics of illegal immigration and returning war veterans as potentially violent “rightwing extremists.”
Later, peaceful tea-party folks were accused by “mainstream media” pundits of acting like “terrorists,” “vampires,” “zombies” and “cannibals.”
There are many such examples. During the Obama administration we have witnessed, non-stop, the modus operandi of the left, wherein those who through monumental deceit have conspired to transform Judeo-Christian America, upend her Constitution and impose an alien new system of governance and morality upon her, have the audacity to accuse the traditionally minded American middle class, which just wants its country back, of being ignorant, deranged and dangerous.

Psychologists call this “projection,” where one person or group literally projects its own wrongs onto another. Thus, for decades, the left – which throughout the 1900s gave the world its bloodiest century in history – has been busy denouncing and “diagnosing” conservatives and Christians. In the Soviet Union, this practice was integral to the ongoing operation of the communist state. Dissidents – the sanest and most courageous people in the country – were confined to psychiatric hospitals for “treatment.” If you had a problem with communism, you were mentally ill and diagnosed with made-up conditions like “philosophical intoxication” and “sluggish schizophrenia.”
A few of the more well-known “inmates” confined in such mental hospitals included poet Joseph Brodsky and political dissidents Vladimir Bukovsky and Natan Sharansky. As Bukovsky and co-author Semyon Gluzman later affirmed in “A Manual on Psychiatry for Dissidents,” “the Soviet use of psychiatry as a punitive means is based upon the deliberate interpretation of dissent … as a psychiatric problem.”
In the U.S., the left’s political manipulation of psychiatry has been more subtle – so far. What is today called the LGBT movement, an outgrowth of the left, in the 1970s famously succeeded in pressuring the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from its official list of disorders, and much more recently, to de-pathologize “transgender identity disorder.”
At the same time, we are seeing increasing demonization and, yes, “diagnosing” of conservatives, as well as the tendency to brand American “dissidents” – those dissenting from the immoral and totalitarian drift of today’s government and culture – as mentally disordered.
Consider: Those who complain their once-great country is being overrun with illegal immigrants are branded “xenophobic,” a pathologizing label implying one has a phobia.
Opponents of radically redefining marriage are “homophobic,” a made-up pathologizing label.
Those objecting to Islamist subversion of the U.S. are “Islamophobic,” another made-up pathologizing label.
Same with “biphobia,” for people who don’t like to be around bisexuals, and “transphobia,” for people uncomfortable around transgendered people.
A study published last year by Italian researchers concluded that if you consider homosexuality to be disordered, you are the one with the mental health problem!
Likewise, those questioning “catastrophic man-caused global warming” are “climate-change deniers,” an epithet designed to convey not merely pathological denial, but moral equivalence to “Holocaust deniers” – in other words, dangerous derangement. Climate expert Marc Morano, former communications director for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, has reported on “a whole slew of new ‘research’ on conservatives’ and global warming skeptics’ ‘brains'”:
First off, environment and sociology Prof. Kari Norgaard’s new study claims skeptics of man-made global warming fears should be “treated” for their skepticism. … Prof. Norgaard’s concept of “treating” those who do not follow the current day’s political or social orthodoxy is, frighteningly, not new.
A quick look at the 20th century totalitarian super-states reveals many similar impulses. It’s even more chilling that there is a whole new movement afoot by the promoters of man-made global warming theory to intimidate climate skeptics by using new brain “research.”
Other researchers have attempted to tie conservatism (which is identified with the highest number of climate skeptics) to “low brainpower.”
Meanwhile, the left-dominated social sciences are also busily accumulating “evidence” that conservatives are the crazy ones, like the study by University College London, which “suggests that conservative brains are structured differently than the brains of other people. … Specifically, the research shows that people with conservative tendencies have a larger amygdala and a smaller anterior cingulate than other people. The amygdala – typically thought of as the ‘primitive brain’ – is responsible for reflexive impulses, like fear.”
Or this U.C. Berkeley News item claiming, “Four researchers who culled through 50 years of research literature about the psychology of conservatism report that at the core of political conservatism is the resistance to change and a tolerance for inequality, and that some of the common psychological factors linked to political conservatism include: Fear and aggression; Dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity; Uncertainty avoidance; Need for cognitive closure; and Terror management.”
Ironically, in contrast with such self-serving nonsense (e.g., conservatives having larger “primitive brain” parts than normal people) is actual objective research suggesting those on the political left are considerably more plagued with mental illness than those on the right. In an extensive series of surveys involving more than 4,000 interviews conducted over the course of four years, Gallup pollsters found that Republicans had “significantly” better mental health than Democrats, with independents ranking in between the two parties.
“One could be quick to assume,” said Gallup’s analysis, “that these differences [in mental health] are based on the underlying demographic and socioeconomic patterns related to party identification in America today,” noting that “men, those with higher incomes, those with higher education levels, and whites are more likely than others to report excellent mental health. Some of these patterns describe characteristics of Republicans, of course.”
However, Gallup revealed that “an analysis of the relationship between party identification and self-reported excellent mental health within various categories of age, gender, church attendance, income, education, and other variables shows that the basic pattern persists regardless of these characteristics. In other words, party identification appears to have an independent effect on mental health even when each of these is controlled for.”
Does being a Democrat – or a Republican – mean you’re more prone to depression, anxiety, or other mental ailments? To find out, BuzzFeed partnered with SurveyMonkey [which provides data collection and analysis for Facebook, Virgin America, Samsung and many others] to ask Americans about their political affiliation and whether or not they’d ever been diagnosed with any of 12 mental health conditions and learning disabilities. SurveyMonkey Audience conducted the online survey exclusively for BuzzFeed, gathering a randomly selected, nationally representative sample of 1,117 people.
Key survey results, which showed that Democrats were roughly twice as likely to have been diagnosed with a mental disorder as Republicans, included: Post-traumatic stress disorder (Democrats 7.95 percent, Republicans 3.97 percent), ADD/ADHD (Democrats 9.13 percent, Republicans 3.97 percent), anxiety (Democrats 20.84 percent, Republicans 10.26 percent), depression (Democrats 34.43 percent, Republicans 23.51 percent).
In fact, in every category polled – dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s/autism, depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, narcissistic personality disorder, anorexia and bulimia – Democrats reported higher incidences then Republicans, except for dyslexia.
Ironically – almost comically – the most oft-cited armchair diagnosis of Donald Trump is narcissism.
Really? After eight years of Barack Obama, whose behavior as president matches perfectly the clinical symptoms of “narcissistic personality disorder,” now his die-hard supporters are going to try to make that stick to Trump?
It’s wacky, of course. But then, as former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich recently commented on “Hannity,” “I think you have to recognize that the left in many ways has gone crazy.”

The "Left," the godless, Socialist, Secular Humanists believe that anyone who does not think the way they do is LITERALLY CRAZY! And they would put such people AWAY if they could. The "Left" is akin to the Nazis in their thinking--You either Conform, Shut Up or they do Away with you.
