I Will Carry You – by Lynn Gipson
And even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.--Isaiah 46:4(KJV)
This past week has been a rough one. I had to undergo minor surgery to replace a stent in my kidney. That left me weak and sore for a week, but I could not stop to rest much, as it was a very demanding time. Yesterday, it all hit home, and I stayed in bed all day with pain in my legs and feet. I was physically and emotionally drained, and I felt old age in every fiber of my being. I prayed for strength to go on, and seemingly it is as not coming.
I did hear God speak to me more than once, as I lay feeling sorry for myself. “I am carrying you through this, just let go and give me the reins.” I searched for a bible verse regarding God carrying me through my pain, and I found Isaiah 46:4. It spoke to me loud and clear, and I knew God was with me.
I finally let it all go, and slept off and on for most of the day. I prayed continually, asking for strength and the will to go on. I feared that this was the beginning of something more drastic, but God said “No.”
This morning I woke refreshed with energy and an abundance of hope. My fears were useless, for God had me in His mighty arms all along. Once again He answered my prayers, as He has done countless times before. He never left my side. God delivered me. Praise the Lord!
