ARE YOU LISTENING?
by Jane Young
"What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops." Matthew 10:27 NASB
Jesus often went to pray and be alone with God.
He devoted His time here on earth doing what he heard His Father say in those quiet moments.
Today, there are many distractions, and we often forget the importance of quiet time with our Father.

The place where He talks to us and where we talk to Him and listen.
We get to know Him as we spend quality moments together, listening to that still small voice.
Maybe it's an affirmation, a rebuke, or perhaps it's a new direction for our life.
He even speaks at times through our thoughts, dreams and timely words from a stranger or friend.
Maybe you think you haven't heard Him speak to you yet or did not realize it was God you heard.
Or, perhaps, you have been too busy and distracted to hear.
Listening is such an essential part of our walk with God as young Samuel found out one night lying in bed.

God gave Samuel directions for what was going to happen.
"Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, nor had the word of the LORD yet been revealed to him. So the LORD called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." Then Eli discerned that the LORD was calling the boy. And Eli said to Samuel, "Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, 'Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Then the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, for Your servant is listening." 1 Samuel 3:7-10
Let us also say, "Speak, for Your servant is listening."
