The left's weekend of violence against Conservatives shows that what we need most today is courage
Antifa’s beatings of a number of Conservatives and right of center journalists shows that what we need most today is courage. The savage beating of journalist Andy Ngo by Antifa thugs in Portland, Oregon Saturday highlighted a seldom-noted fact about today’s public square: when the forces of good shrink back in fear, the forces of evil are emboldened. What we need to fight back against an increasingly violent Left is people with courage.
The left has declared war on our most basic freedoms - freedom of speech and freedom of assembly with the sanction of the leftwing media and left wing government. It's war. Lock and load.
At least five protesters and three police officers were treated by medics for injuries during the protests, and three people were taken to hospital after being attacked by leftists with weapons. Only three ANTIFA terrorists were arrested.
Police stood by and watched. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) called on federal law enforcement to bring legal action against Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler for ordering the police to let the citizens be attacked.
At AFDI, we’re standing up against these evil forces while others fear to do so.
Cowardice is everywhere today. Years ago we spoke out against the cowardice of American newspaper publishers, as they cowered before Islamic intimidation and refused to reprint the notorious Danish cartoons of Muhammad for fear of offending Muslims. This heralded the submission to Sharia norms that we see all over Europe and the U.S. today, as Muslims get special privileges in schools, the workplace, and elsewhere.
For years also, we have stood against jihad violence and Sharia oppression despite being excoriated, vilified, defamed, threatened, and ostracized. We have kept on speaking out even when our lives were threatened. And we stood up for free speech when everyone else in the West was standing down: at our free speech event in Garland, Texas, in 2015, jihadist would-be mass murderers drove eight hours to kill me and as many of the conference attendees as they could. Then other Muslims in Boston hatched a plot to behead me.
We won't be intimidated. I won't be intimidated. I kept speaking out.
Antifa has targeted me as well. In Stockholm in 2012 Antifa thugs surrounded and menaced our freedom rally; only a huge phalanx of Swedish police kept them from tearing us limb from limb.
I didn’t stop speaking out. And I don’t intend to. For years now, as cowardice has become internalized and mainstreamed in the U.S. and Europe, AFDI has stood up proudly and fearlessly for the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, the equality of rights of all before the law, and individual rights. While much of the conservative establishment and large segments of the Republican Party have become weak, feeble echoes of the Left, we have stood strong for human rights. And we will keep doing so.
The stakes are massive. America, as the world’s beacon of freedom, is under severe assault from within. These times call for fearless patriots who are willing to defend our freedoms.
Even if your donation is only $50 or $75, it will help us to continue to stand and fight against Leftist thuggery, authoritarianism and Sharia.
The crisis is severe, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Even if your donation is only $50 or $75, it will help us in our efforts against authoritarianism and Sharia. No one but AFDI is taking the fight to the enemies of freedom, challenging their steady encroachments on free speech and free expression.
