Delight to Know
Sheriena McEvers
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 NKJV
Do you know someone who is simply a delight to know? You enjoy their company. They lift your spirits. The mood is brightened. A smile comes to your face when you think of them.
Knowing our Lord and his care for us brings joy to our soul and a smile to our faces.
This is more than an intellectual knowledge of God. It is a heart knowledge, a real knowing. How is that possible, you say? When you open your heart to him to receive his life, you will begin to know him like never before.
Take time to study his word, so you get to know him more. His ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours. Even if you have read the Bible through, there is so much more to learn. Read it again and again. Read certain books of the Bible over and over again. You will always learn more about him.
The more we know about him the more we will trust him and the greater our joy will be until we might feel like we could burst with his joy.
This verse in Psalm 37 isn’t a promise to be used to get what we want. However, if we delight ourselves in the Lord, he will give us an amazing life.
Heavenly Father, help us to know the length, height, width, and depth of your love for us.
