Keep Me from Faltering Feet, O Lord
Karen Pourbabaee
“My steps have kept to Your paths; my feet have not faltered.” Psalm 17:5 NAB
“Are you OK, ma’am?” I was on my hands and knees at the entrance to a department store one day, shaken and bruised because I hadn’t paid attention as I approached the curb. I was wandering, thinking about other things rather than the present moment. I was careless. That misstep could have resulted in a much greater injury.
I was embarrassed, but grateful to walk away with minor afflictions. How quickly such missteps lead to injury. Likewise, spiritual missteps can lead to all sorts of afflictions.
But how can we keep our spiritual balance in a chaotic world?
The paths of the Lord are where we will find stability, where our feet will not falter.
It is the only place of spiritual stability.
“The way of the just is smooth; the path of the just you make level.” (Isaiah 26:7)
Where do we find the Lord’s paths? The roadmaps are in His Word. When you are questioning or wondering, seek His direction and tread upon His established paths.
Don’t just wander through life.
“In all your ways, be mindful of Him, and He will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6)
Be mindful of the Lord, seeking His direction. Be careful about your life, paying attention to where and how you walk. Once you discern His direction, God’s paths will keep you in spiritual balance that your steps might not falter.
