Sarah Sanders Breaks Into Tears When Reciting This Bible Verse After Las Vegas Massacre
After the Las Vegas shooting that took the lives of 58 Americans and left hundreds of others injured, Sarah Sanders took to the White House podium to answer questions before a shocked nation.
Sanders said in her opening remarks that the shooting was “an act of pure evil” but went on to tell the stories of bravery and selflessness that emerged in the wake of the shooting. She highlighted these individuals and their bravery:
- One man, 29-year-old Sonny Melton, had traveled from Tennessee to Las Vegas with his wife, Heather. When the bullets began raining down, Sonny shielded her from danger, selflessly giving up his life to save hers. They had been married for just over a year.
- Others risked their own lives to save people they have never met. Mike McGarry from Philadelphia laid on top of students to protect them from the gunfire. “They’re 20, I’m 53,” he said, “and I have lived a good life.”
- Lindsay Padgett and her fiance, Mike Jay, fled and immediately returned to the scene with their pickup truck to help transport the wounded to nearby hospitals.
- Gayle Davis, who was attending the concert with her husband, said she owed her life to a brave police officer who instinctively served as a human shield, protecting her from harm.
- Sadly, multiple police officers, both on duty and off duty, were among those killed or injured.
Sanders said: “What these people did for each other says far more about who we are as Americans than the cowardly act of the killer ever could.”
Then, upon reading a part of scripture, the hardened, blunt Sarah Sanders broke. She read from the gospel of John, quoting Jesus when he said:
“There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for a friend.”
Sanders's voice cracked, and she paused slightly, saying:
“The memory of those who displayed the ultimate expression of love in the midst of an act of hate will never fail. Their examples will serve as an eternal reminder that the American spirit cannot and will not ever be broken.”
Watch below and pray for the victims.
