I’ll Pray for You

Did thoughts of a friend surface in your head this morning?  Or maybe one of your children, or a parent?  

As a child of God, the Holy Spirit may lead us to pray for someone we know.  When we are thinking of others in our lives, it’s a blessed opportunity to practice putting ourselves aside for that moment, and look out for the interests of others. 

Paul opens the letter to the Philippians explaining exactly how he prays for others, and he gives us a guide.   In Philippians 1:3 NKJV, Paul states, 

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”  

Secondly, Paul states in verse 4 that 

“in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy.” 

Thirdly, Paul states that he prays that fellowship with the church of believers will continue.  

Fourth, Paul states that he prays 

“that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”  

Lastly, Paul states that he prays for the Philippians to remain in God’s will in love and good fruit. 

We can apply this prayer of Paul’s into our prayers for others:

Thank God for this person.

Pray for their specific needs.

Pray that this person will fellowship with other believers.

Pray that they will remain in God’s will.

Pray that they grow in love, knowledge, discernment, and righteousness.

Your loved ones are then completely covered in prayer, according to God’s will.  Is someone on your mind right now?  Who?...  

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:6).
