“Antifa” has emerged as one of the most terrifying forces on the American left since the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

Street clashes between conservatives and antifa are now common in America’s cities. Berkeley, California, has been the site of several “Battles of Berkeley” in which violence is taken for granted.The violence by the black-clad protesters has been so extreme even Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., condemned antifa and called for prosecutions.

Yet many conservatives and libertarians remain ignorant about the group’s origins, tactics and inspiration. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan infamously sided with antifa rather than with President Trump when the commander in chief suggested both the far left and the far right were to blame for August’s violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
