Be the First
Vernita Simmons
Willa Beatrice Brown, Johannes Gutenberg, Amelia Earhart, and President Barak Obama all have something in common. They defied the odds and made history, accomplishing what seemed impossible.
You have heard it all before. It can’t be done. No one in your family has ever accomplished anything great, and you’re not the right person for the job either. Or how about, you’re from the wrong ethnic group.
But there have always been things that seemed impossible until someone was the first to achieve what had never been done. Someone of courage who goes against the grain and becomes all that God created them to be.
Anyone who sets out to be first must do so with the awareness that they will face opposition, discouragement, rejection and even failure before they succeed. They may be teased, scorned and laughed at by those who view them as less than capable.
But anyone who desires to be first knows they must reject the odds and step out of their comfort zone. They must face their fears, taking a leap of faith, moving forward and leaning on Jesus with all that is in them.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13, ESV)
It’s not about what you can do, but what God can do through you.
As you depend heavily on the Lord, He strengthens you to fulfill the plans and purposes He crafted for your life.
God has given you the gifts, skills, potential, and dreams.
Don’t let those who say it can never be done squash your dreams.
Step out in faith beloved; God created you to do the impossible.
