Lawmaker Fears Ivy League Universities Infiltrated by Pro-Iran, Anti-Israel Foundation
A U.S. congressman, Rep. Dan Donovan from New York, has requested the Department of Education and pertinent committees in Congress launch an investigation into the Alavi Foundation to find out if that organization’s dollars were used to advance a pro-Iran, anti-Israel message in some of America’s top universities.
Grants were made from this foundation to Harvard, Columbia, Princeton and the like. And this is the same foundation that was just found to have been illegally managing 650 Fifth Ave. on behalf of Iran by a federal jury in June.
And millions of its dollars have gone to dozens of U.S. colleges and universities?
What’s unknown is if any strings have been attached to these grants.
The New York Post has the story:
Federal authorities should investigate how a charitable foundation with ties to Iran steered millions of dollars to dozens of American universities including Columbia, Harvard and Princeton, according to Rep. Dan Donovan.Critics charge the grants from the Alavi Foundation helped fund pro-Tehran and anti-Israel professors.“I’ll be contacting the secretary of education . . . about this matter immediately,” said Donovan (R-SI).“Did this foundation attempt to subvert American academic institutions? . . . We need to investigate this, and universities have to do a better job of vetting their donors.”
Wonder how many professors at these universities adjusted their rhetoric to become soft on Tehran, tough on Israel?
From Campus Reform:
Some critics of the Alavi Foundation argue that group used the money in an effort to place pro-Iran professors in U.S. institutions. In addition to questionable contributions in higher education, the charity also made headlines in late June following a court ruling determining that it had violated economic sanctions against Iran, after which U.S. authorities said that they were ready to seize a New York City skyscraper owned by the group.“For over a decade, hiding in plain sight, this 36-story Manhattan office tower secretly served as a front for the Iranian government and as a gateway for millions of dollars to be funneled to Iran in clear violation of U.S. sanctions laws,” acting U.S. Attorney Joon Kim said at the time.---http://pamelageller.com/2017/08/lawmaker-fears-ivy-league-universities-infiltrated-pro-iran-anti-israel-foundation.html/--My comments: What is Not For Sale in America today?
