Belgium's anti-terror team confirmed soldiers 'neutralised' the man after he attacked security forces
A MAN was shot in the centre of Brussels after attacking two soldiers with a "machete", it's reported.
The 30-year-old was critically injured and taken to hospital while the soldiers suffered injuries to their face and hand in the assault, prosecutors said.
A spokeswoman for the prosecution service said: "With the identity that we currently have, it is a 30-year-old man who is not known for terrorist activities."
The incident happened at 8.20pm local time (7.20pm BST) near the on Emile-Jacqmain boulevard, according to local reports.

The area is understood to be in lockdown, while a cordon was set up around the scene.
Pictures show armed officers and soldiers standing guard at the police tape.
In addition to regular police, Brussels streets are being patrolled by soldiers due to a heightened security threat level in the wake of militant attacks in Paris and the Belgian capital in 2015 and 2016.
In June, troops shot dead a suspected suicide bomber in Brussels' central train station but there were no other casualties, in what authorities treated a terrorist incident.
