His Word Stands

“Though the grass withers and the flower wilts, the Word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 NAB
Just a few days ago, a vibrant, deep-pink peony blossom smiled at me as I opened my curtain one morning. After a night of thrashing thunderstorms and heavy hail, the blossom, with its weather-worn and yellowing edges, was wilting. The words of Isaiah 40:8 quickly came to mind.
Things of this world may fade and wither, but we can trust in God’s Word. Psalm 119:89 is in agreement: “Your Word, Lord, stands forever; it is firm as the heavens.”
In the eternal Word, God promises us His blessings:
When we call on His Name, we are saved. (Romans 10:13)
We can have peace with God through Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
If we lack wisdom, merely ask and God provides it. (James 1:5)
Our God is faithful and will protect us from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
God is a present help in any trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
Even when we suffer through various trials and adversities, our Father says He will perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish us. (I Peter 5:10)
In fact, He says He will complete the good work He began in us until the day Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:6) Just a few of His Words that are settled forever.
God’s Word is like a garden, the place of our life-long journey.
Enter in through the Gate, Jesus Christ. Then take the time to smell the roses. Linger in this garden of Truth. Consider the lilies of His fields. Pick a fragrant bouquet to hide in your heart. These blossoms never wither nor wilt: they remain stalwart in the light of His Son.
God’s Word stands forever.
