Clarion Takes to Congress to Challenge Radical Islam
Challenging radical Islam in the United States was center stage when Clarion Project’s Raheel Raza testified before the House Subcommittee on National Security.
Raza made four key recommendations for consideration by lawmakers:
- Shift government focus and efforts to tackle the ideology that drives extremism. Not just Countering Violent Extremism, but also countering non-violent extremism. The ideology. More on this in a moment.
- Designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. They spread this extreme ideology.
- Take steps to prevent funding of US educational institutions and mosques by foreign extremists.
- Stop listening to extremists, start listening to moderates such as the Muslim Reform Movement.
“It’s not about political correctness. There are people here in the West who are afraid to use the words ‘Islamist Ideology’ because they think that it is anti-Muslim. It is actually very pro-Muslim, because it makes the ordinary masses of people understand the difference between the faith of Islam and an ideology which is political in nature – and which is evil.”
