Exclusive: Joseph Farah on same-sex marriage battle: 'You're being lied to big-time'

I read the news accounts of the Georgia “Preservation of Religious Freedom Act.”

You know, that law those crackers down there passed that would give, as CNN reported, “faith-based organizations in Georgia the option to deny services and jobs to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.”

You know, the law that was vetoed by Republican Gov. Nathan Deal after he was lobbied by, as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, “a steady stream of corporate titans who urged him to veto the bill – and threatened to pull investments from Georgia if it became law.”

You know, the law that, as Fox News reported, “would allow faith-based organizations to deny services to those who violate their ‘sincerely held’ religious beliefs” and “would let employers retain the right to fire employees not aligned with those beliefs.”

I read those news accounts.

I was astonished that a bill would be approved by a state legislature that would do those things. So, I guess I did something few others bothered to do. I read the bill. I read the official summary, too.

What I found astonished me.

The Big Media have completely fabricated both the intent of the legislation and its actual text.

How?

• There is no mention of “faith-based organizations” in the bill. It is a bill about preserving and defending individual religious rights – personal rights. As the summary of the bill explains concisely: “A BILL to be entitled an Act to protect religious freedoms; to amend Chapter 3 of Title 19 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to marriage generally, so as to provide that religious officials shall not be required to perform marriage ceremonies in violation of their legal right to free exercise of religion; to amend Chapter 1 of Title 10 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to selling and other trade practices, so as to change certain provisions relating to days of rest for employees of business and industry; to protect property owners which are religious institutions against infringement of religious freedom; to define a term; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. (Italics added.)
• Nowhere in the bill does it mention the “denial of services and jobs” to anyone. Nowhere in the bill does it mention “gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.”
• Nowhere does the bill mention firing of “employees not aligned with those beliefs.”

I’ve seen bad reporting before, but this is indeed an outrage. I urge you to read the bill for yourself.

The fix is in here, folks. You’re being lied to big-time.

And who’s behind it?

Dozens of big-name corporations, including Disney and its subsidiary Marvel, Apple, Time Warner (which owns CNN, coincidentally), Intel, Salesforce, Dell, the AMC Networks, which films its hit show “The Walking Dead” in the state, Coca-Cola, the NFL, which said the state would not be allowed to host a future Super Bowl if it wasn’t vetoed, and on and on we go.

Remember all those “progressive” voices that once complained about the role money plays in politics and denounced “corporate power”? 

Do you wonder why they’re no longer complaining? 

The corporate titans are now doing their bidding for them. Whether there is a disproportionate number of anti-religious people in the corporate boardrooms or the corporations don’t want to face boycotts by vocal same-sex marriage activists, the money people are now in their pocket.

As for the disgraceful Gov. Deal, he’s been bought and paid for, too. He made a deal, all right. He is well-named. He sold out religious liberties – the First Amendment – for a future ticket to the Super Bowl.

He claimed, of course, that his decision was “about the character of our state and the character of our people. Georgia is a welcoming state. It is full of loving, kind and generous people. … I intend to do my part to keep it that way. For that reason I will veto House Bill 757.” Nonsense. It’s a solid bill intended to prevent the kind of abuses of “same-sex marriage” that coerce people to violate their conscience by attempting to force them to participate, as we’ve seen over and over again in other states.

Deal also said, quite unbelievably: “In light of our history, I find it ironic that today some in the religious community feel it necessary to ask government to confer upon them certain rights and protections. If indeed our religious liberty is conferred by God and not by man-made government, we should heed the ‘hands-off’ admonition of the First Amendment to our Constitution.”

Yes, the founders believed religious liberty, as with all rights, were God-given. But they affirmed those rights by spelling them out – and with good reason. The founders were refugees of nations that did not protect them. America was to be different in that regard – and others.

The same fight is taking place in North Carolina, where a similar bill was signed by the governor. Lawsuits were immediately filed against the governor and others demanding a judge – any judge – declare the law unconstitutional.

This is proof we are moving to an oligarchy, pure and simple. 

The Constitution be damned. The Constitution couldn’t be much clearer on religious freedom. It’s right there in the Bill of Rights.

I support the move by Georgia legislators to override Deal’s veto.

But that’s not enough.

It’s time for Americans to speak up, to act, to fight back against the loss of religious liberty in this country.

Obviously, the threatened boycotts of big business have been effective. Now those self-interested corporations think you’re asleep – that you will stand by and watch representative government roll over while you lose your religious liberties.

WND has been reporting on this trend for years. Do you think Coca-Cola, Disney, the politically correct NFL and others should govern America? Or do you think the people should?

I’ll tell you what I’m going to do:

• Not watch NFL games.
• Not watch my favorite TV show, “The Walking Dead.”
• Not support Disney movies and TV shows.
• Not watch CNN or any other Time Warner programming.
• Complain to Fox that its slogan “fair and balanced” has become empty to me.

Is that too much of a sacrifice for the preservation of religious liberties in America?

My comments: The godless in America want to Force you to Conform to their godlessness, by Law. They are Ruthless and Relentless and will use Any Means to accomplish this. In the midst of this we seem to have a Sleeping and often Apostate "Church." Every Christian should check themselves to see if they are in the Faith, and will not be like the Five Foolish Virgins, unable to meet the Lord when He comes.
