Anti-Semitism Alive In Europe

European elections spark fears among Jewish people (Photo Credit Sean Gallup/Getty Images/via JTA) More than 200 supporters of the far-right National Democratic Party marched on May Day (May 1st) in Rostock, Germany. For the past several days countries across Europe have been holding elections for the EU Parliament. The frightening reality is that extremist political parties, many of whom have neo-Nazi ties, are doing very well. Though the full returns won't be known for a few days, some analysts think as many as 20-25% of the seats will be won by representatives from such groups. One of the most strident extremist parties is the Golden Dawn of Greece. They use a swastika-like symbol and make no secret of their affinity for the Nazis. Victor Eliezer, secretary general of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece, said, “We are worried, yes, but not afraid.” The dark tide of anti-Semitism is not limited to the Middle East and Israel's neighbors...it is alive and well in Europe too. Over my past few days in Israel, the open hatred and desire for the destruction of God's Chosen People that is so active is heartbreaking, especially in light of my recent trip to Ukraine and Belarus. The Jewish people I met in Ukraine (and the needs are SO great—please continue to pray with me for these dear people) long to come to Israel. Yet, even those who do come are not safe. The same hatred for God's Chosen People that threatens their lives and future in Ukraine is very evident here. My comments: As Europe become more godless anti-Semitism rises. Coincidence? I think not.
