Hi Friend, When was the last time you did a little stargazing? In Psalm 8, David asks God this question: “When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?” (8:3–4 NLT). There’s something about pausing to take in the vastness of God’s creation and the wonder of His artistry that puts things into their proper perspective. When we consider how great God is, our problems seem so much smaller in comparison. Instead of making us feel small and alone, contemplating the night sky makes us as believers feel awe and gratitude that such a big God should be mindful of us. Even for nonbelievers, creation itself prompts the biggest questions like, “What is the meaning of my life?” and “Am I all alone in this world?” I think kids especially more prone to wonder and awe in the face of creation. Deep down, they know there’s something out there. And that’s why it’s so important to introduce them as early as possible to the God of creation.
To help with that, I’m excited to recommend a new kids’ devotional book written by my good friend Levi Lusko. It’s called Marvel at the Moon, containing 90 devotions themed around outer space. With profound biblical insights and astonishing science facts that even we adults love, it’s written in a way that engages your child’s imagination and lifts their gaze heavenward. And the colorful, captivating illustrations are absolutely stunning. Today’s young people are facing unprecedented challenges—isolation, bullying, and disconnection from the world around them—leaving them lonely and discouraged. It’s up to us to connect them with the God who loves them, who is always with them, and who cares so deeply about what they are experiencing and feeling. Let’s teach them to “look up” and know the God who loves them. As you know, Harvest Ministries is all about helping people know God personally at every age and stage of life. That’s what you are supporting when you make a gift to Harvest—and this month, when you give, we’ll mail you Marvel at the Moon as our way of saying thanks. |
