Ever-Present - Karen Pourbabaee
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in distress.” Psalm 46:1 NAB
Psalm 46 is a song of confidence in God’s protection.
The opening verse declares He is our refuge and our strength.
He is an ever-present God!
That’s what we need to contemplate and to declare when our eyes open each morning.
Remember God is with you, wherever you are.
“God is in its midst; it shall not be shaken.
God will help it at the break of day.”(Ps. 46:6)
Your morning assurance will bring you peace as your day unfolds.
Know that His watchful eyes are upon you all the day long and into the night.
The security we can have in God’s presence in chaos is revealed in verses 2-4. “Thus we do not fear…” (Ps. 46:2)
We have numerous promises in this regard,
“Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed; I am your God. I will strengthen you, and help you, and uphold you with my right hand of justice.” (Isaiah 41:10)
This is confirmed again in Joshua 1:9: “I command you: be firm and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) The resounding message is: no fear in God’s presence.
Three times in this short psalm, we hear: The Lord of Hosts is with us! (v.4,8,12)
How can forget that comforting promise!
It is repeated throughout the Old and New Testaments just so we don’t forget that we are enveloped in His loving presence.
God, you are my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in distress. You remain with me at all times and in all places. Thus, I do not fear. Thank you for the blessing of peace in my life. Amen
