Hi Friend, In case you haven’t already picked up my newest book, let me share a short excerpt with you: When Jesus entered our world as a human being, He became an embryo, and then deity in diapers. Jesus left the safety of Heaven, stepped into time and space, breathed our air, shared our pain, walked in our shoes, lived our life, and died our death. God had a face. Jesus had not become identical to us, but He did become identified with us. In fact, He could not have identified with us any more closely than He did. It was total identification without the loss of identity, for He became one of us without ceasing to be Himself. He became human without ceasing to be God. The idea of a “deity in diapers” is mind-boggling, isn’t it? That God would take on our lowly form and become one of us…it shatters our preconceived notions about how a deity is supposed to act. That’s one of the reasons I titled this Christmas devotional Heaven’s Light Breaking. Not only does God break through the space separating Heaven from Earth, but He breaks the false images we’ve created about Him. He breaks the walls that we build up around ourselves. And He breaks the chains of sin and death that hold us captive. Don’t spend this Christmas season without discovering a greater understanding of Christ’s power in your life. When Jesus came to Earth on that first Christmas, He broke through the barriers that separate us from a loving God. Heaven’s light broke through the darkness of our hearts. That’s certainly worth celebrating during the upcoming Advent season. To help you reflect on this important truth and many more, we’re offering my new book as a thank-you gift for your donation to Harvest Ministries today. You can receive Heaven’s Light Breaking, a 25-day Advent devotional, when you support the work of evangelism and Bible teaching so we can continue to minister to you and your loved ones during this season. |
