Hi Friend, When it comes to raising children—be that as a parent, grandparent, mentor, teacher, or pastor—it’s important to remember that our goal shouldn’t be to mold our children into our image. Instead, our goal should be to mold them into God’s image. We’re not trying to teach them to be dependent on us for the rest of their lives. Rather, we’re to teach them to be independent—and most importantly, dependent on God. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says: “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” (NKJV). We must teach our children diligently. It’s not just giving your child a set of dos and don’ts, but developing a set of convictions in your child that will carry with him or her through life. God has called us to steward this powerful responsibility. He’s called us to build a strong foundation for our children—a foundation on His son and in His name. I want to offer you a book that can help you shepherd the children in your life. When you make a gift toward the mission of Harvest today, I’ll send you Heaven for Kids, a book by best-selling author Randy Alcorn that’s full of biblical answers to the questions kids often have about Heaven.
