Hi Friend, When she was younger, my granddaughter Lucy and I had a special game. Every time we encountered a set of stairs, she’d beg me to carry her down “the fun way”—where I would sort of exaggerate each stair, so it’s like a little ride on a modified bucking bronco. She just loved it. Once, as I was carrying Lucy, she asked me, “Papa, will there be stairs in Heaven?” I wasn’t quite sure why she asked this, so I responded, “Lucy, I don’t know. Perhaps. Why do you ask?” She said, “Because I always want you to carry me down the stairs the fun way!” That is the mind of a child trying to grasp the mystery of Heaven. Going down the stairs “the fun way” is something she likes, and she wonders if that pleasure will continue in the afterlife. Jesus said, “I am going to prepare a place for you” (John 14). Heaven is an actual place. It is described in Scripture as a country, a garden, and a city. It has streets, food, activities, and plenty of things to do. And one day, Heaven will come to earth. It’s important for us to understand Heaven. It’s also important for us to raise our children to understand and long for eternity with God! I want to give you a great resource for doing just that. When you make a gift in support of Harvest Ministries today, we’ll send you a copy of Randy Alcorn’s Heaven for Kids—a fabulous book that’s full of biblical answers to common questions about Heaven. |
