Hello Friend,
Dennis Agajanian, a gifted guitar player, is a man that I have been friends with for decades. He worked with the Billy Graham team for many years, and he also is a bit of a prankster, like me.
One time, I was back in North Carolina at a Billy Graham board meeting, and at dinner I said to Billy, “Billy, if there is anything I can do for you to help prepare your sermons, or whatever, let me know what you need and I will work on it.” Billy said, “OK, thank you.”
I went back to my room that night and I got a call sometime later. It was fairly late, about 10:00 PM or so. I knew for sure it would be my friend Dennis. He would always call and say, “How did it go tonight? How is Billy doing?” On this particular night he called me with an amazing Billy Graham imitation. He said in his Billy voice, “Hello Greg, this is Billy Graham. I was thinking about what you said to me tonight.”

Now, I know it is not Billy on the phone, so I am actually watching TV and I am flipping through the channels, and just saying, “Right. Right. Mmm-hmm” in response to whatever Dennis is saying. “Uh-huh. Yeah. Whatever, Billy,”—because I know it is Dennis on the other end.
I am waiting for him to finally admit, “Greg, it’s Dennis,” when he goes on to say, “I was thinking about what you said tonight, and I would like your help.” I paused for a moment and thought, “Wait. I didn’t tell Dennis I said that to Billy.” It dawned on me this call was actually Billy Graham himself, and I had been totally blowing him off.
Of course, Billy was gracious, as always, and I was able to give him the help he was requesting, but it made for a funny story. I tell it with many other stories about my experiences with this unique and amazing man—Billy Graham—in a brand-new book.
We’re offering Billy Graham: The Man I Knew as a thank-you gift to anyone who donates to our ministry this month. |
