Am I a Good Enough Witness?
Jennifer Lynn
As I read my Bible the other day, I wondered about witnessing.
I'm not very outspoken that Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of the world; I'm a little more subtle than that.
So, as I read, I asked the Lord,
"God, am I doing a good enough job for You?
Should I be bolder and more specific about you in witnessing?"
James 1:5 says if we ask God for wisdom, He will give it faithfully, so I trusted He would answer in His time.
Later that day, I felt led to read I Dared to Call Him Father, a true story of a royal convert in Pakistan who endured persecution and learned to practice the presence of God through repentance and obedience.
Her Muslim family had shunned and threatened her since she accepted Jesus Christ.
But someone in her family died, and she went to the funeral at God's leading.
Nothing came of it at the time, but a few weeks later, some of the family called to thank her for being such a comforting presence.
Here's what she says about the experience:
"Once again, I could not help but be amazed at how Jesus had done the work through me when I said little or nothing about Him directly.
It was my being there, representing His Spirit in this time of need that had been the helper."
Oh, how good God is to answer us!
If you wonder whether you are a good witness, remember you are the representative of His presence, which is a witness in itself.
"For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing." 2 Corinthians 2:15
