United Success

‘from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly; promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.’ Ephesians 4:16 (NRSV)
Often, we can look to the natural world to learn valuable lessons about how God would have us live with each other. Take bottlenose dolphins for example. Off the coast of Florida, pods of these dolphins can be found utilizing a surprising strategy to outwit their prey – a behavior that keeps them united in social structure and well fed.
Swimming together in a tight circle, they stir up silt creating a muddy whirlpool similar to a net that traps fish in the center. Panicky fish leap out of the water to escape right into the mouths of the expectant, hungry dolphins.
Their intelligent behavior and communal spirit, means success for the dolphins over and over again.
Ephesians 4:16 and Psalm 133, remind us of how very good it is when God’s people live together in unity. We are one body called to unite together for a common good – the welfare and growth of God’s Kingdom. We are to work alongside each other by considering the needs and betterment of others. To work together building one another up in love.
The dolphins will starve if they lose focus and go it alone. Likewise, if we neglect one another, the work won’t be done.
Let’s build each other up in love, uniting together for our common purpose and goal so that our work is successful and our Heavenly Father is honored.
