A Heart Burning with Love
| ||||
The guards drugged the inmates until their senses corroded. Richard struggled to focus his mind, and at times even the Lord’s Prayer became too long to recite. Concentration escaped him. Once, he mustered what little strength he had left and mumbled, “Jesus, I love You.”
You love Me? Jesus responded. Now I will show you how I love you. Suddenly, Richard’s heart burned like the hearts of the two men on the Emmaus road. “I knew the love of the one who gave his life on the cross for us all. Such love cannot exclude the Communists, however grave their sins.” The more Richard suffered, the more love he felt toward the guards. He believed in the all-embracing love of Christ, who desires the salvation of everyone.
–FROM THE BOOK WURMBRAND
| ||||
| Pastor Richard Wurmbrand spent 14 years in prison for his faith in Christ and his outspoken Christian witness. Three of those years were spent in solitary confinement. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned three years, including many freezing months in a labor camp on the Danube Canal. She was repeatedly told that her husband had died in prison. Despite their suffering, pain and torture, neither of them lost hope. Instead of questioning their faith, they boldly proclaimed the freedom of the gospel to other captives and even to their oppressors. Now, for the first time in a single book, you can read the inspiring, complete story of Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand. Learn about their faith, their suffering and their service to Christ — including their founding of The Voice of the Martyrs.
