Dr. Dobson Calls For 'Day of Fasting and Prayer' to Protect Trump From Those Who 'Hate Him'

Commenting on a recent trip to the White House where he prayed with President Donald Trump and other religious leaders, Dr. James Dobson said many people "hate" Trump and want him impeached, and thus he is calling "for a nationwide movement to pray for" the president, a "day of fasting and prayer."
Dr. Dobson, an evangelical Christian and psychologist, noted that Trump's primary enemies include the "mainstream media," many Democrat and Republican members of Congress, the "entertainment industry," and left-wing special interest groups.
“I want to go back a month when I joined more than 25 ministers who were invited to the White House for a gathering with President Trump," said Dr. Dobson during the Facebook Live First Friday Prayer Conference on Jan. 5, sponsored by Intercessors of America.
"All of us serve on an advisory committee to address the spiritual needs of the chief executive," he said. "We met with Mr. Trump on that occasion. He was sitting at his desk and we were surrounding him, gathered around. We talked to him for about 30 minutes and we then laid hands on him and prayed for him."
"I don’t know what others were thinking about that day, but I can tell you what was going through my mind," said Dobson. "I felt sorry for this man. I know he’s a tough executive who doesn’t seem particularly vulnerable, but I thought about the burden that rests heavily on his shoulders."
"Not only is he the leader of the free world, of course, but so many people obviously hate him," said Dobson. "You’re aware of that, if you read the papers at all that he has many, many opponents."
"He faces the combined opposition from the mainstream media, from members of Congress—both Democrats and Republicans, not all of them, but many of them—the entertainment industry, [and] the special interest groups who seem determined to bring him down," said Dobson. "I know Mr. Trump makes mistakes and brings some of this opposition on himself."
"But I think this country will be in serious trouble if they’re successful in impeaching this man," he said, "and that’s why I’m calling for a nationwide movement to pray for him."

"I’m calling for a day of fasting and prayer," said Dr. Dobson. "I hope that Christian people from coast to coast will join in that time; the date is your choosing, but we do need to be praying for our president.”
Dr. Dobson is the founder of Focus on the Family. He also is the author of 25 books, co-author of six books, andhe served on the congressional committee that wrote the Meese Report on pornography.
