Christmas Attack in San Francisco Thwarted by FBI
An ex-Marine and convert to Islam was arrested in California for plotting a large-scale terror attack on San Francisco’s Pier 39, a popular tourist attraction.
Everitt Aaron Jameson, a 26-year-old tow truck driver who now goes by the name of Abdallah abu Everitt ibn Gordon al-Amriki, was trained as a sharp shooter, before being discharged from the Marines for failure to disclose his asthma.
Authorities began watching Jameson after a tip from an informant who told them he liked and loved pro-ISIS and pro-terrorism Facebook posts.
Jameson was planning a suicide mission on Christmas day, as urged by Islamic State in its latest communiques to supporters in the West.
An FBI affidavit filed December 22, 2017 stated:
“He had been there [to Pier 39] before and knew that it was a heavily crowded area. Jameson explained that he also desired to use explosives, and described a plan in which explosives could ‘tunnel’ or ‘funnel’ people into a location where Jameson could inflict casualties.”
He planned to continue shooting victims until he was killed.
Jameson tried to procure from an undercover FBI agent (whom he thought was a senior ISIS figure) an assault rifle and ammunition as well as materials to make a pipe bomb — tubing, nails, timers and remote detonators.
From a search of Jameson’s home, FBI officials found guns and ammunitions and a signed note from him saying, “I Abdallah [abu] Everitt ibn Gordon have committed these acts upon the Kuffar[non-Muslims], in the name of Dar al Islam [the Muslim world], Allahu Akbar! You’ve Allowed Donald J Trump to give away Al Quds [Jerusalem] to the Jews. Both You and he are wrong, it belongs to the Muslemeen [Muslims]. Long Live Isil [ISIS], Long Live Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi [ISIS’ self-styled caliph].”
In an unrelated incident, authorities are investigating a shooting rampage in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as a terror attack. Ahmed El-Mofty, 51, was shot and killed after he opened fire on multiple police officers December 22, 2017.
One policewoman was hit but is expected to make a full recovery. The shooting took place during rush hour traffic and continued into a residential neighborhood as police pursued the shooter.
El-Mofty was originally from Egypt and had recently made a trip to the Middle East.
“The Department of Homeland Security can confirm the suspect involved in a terror attack in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and another suspect arrested on terror-related money laundering charges were both beneficiaries of extended chain migration,” Department of Homeland Security Acting Press Secretary Tyler Houlton said in a statement.
Over the past week, four men have been sentenced in Islamist terror charges across the U.S. with another convicted.
