Franklin Graham Slams Rosie O'Donnell for Paul Ryan 'Hell' Comments: 'Let Jesus Clean Up Your Mouth'
Evangelist Franklin Graham has slammed Rosie O'Donnell for telling House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) he "will go straight to hell" and urged the comedian to let Jesus "clean up" her heart and mouth.
On Christmas Day, O'Donnell, who is known for her liberal views and frequent spats with President Donald Trump, tweeted: "paul ryan - don't talk about Jesus after what u just did to our nation - u will go straight to hell u screwed up fake altar boy."
O'Donnell made her comments in response to a tweet that included a Christmas message from the Republican speaker.
"At the end of every year, no matter how short or how long it may feel, there is always Christmas," Ryan said in the clip. "Waiting for us is that sense of wonder that the shepherds felt when the angels appeared in the night sky to herald the birth of a Savior."
On Facebook, Graham, the leader of Samaritan's Purse, criticized O'Donnell for her flippant statement.
"Rosie, you don't have the keys to hell, but I know the One who does," he said. "And I can tell you who will be there. Hell is going to be filled with people who rejected God's offer of salvation and turned their backs on His laws and standards, refusing to repent."
He added, "Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, and He took your sins and mine to the Cross, dying in our place, so that we might live--if we would turn from our sins and put our faith in Him. I hope one day you will put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and let him heal your heart, clean up your mouth, and forgive your sins. Do that today-you'll never regret it."
O'Donnell was reportedly upset about the recently-passed GOP tax plan and last week offered to pay two senators $2 million each to vote against the tax bill, according to Fox News.
She concluded her Christmas day tweet with the hashtag: "#JUDASmuch" in a reference to the disciple who betrayed Jesus. In response, a spokesperson for Ryan responded only by saying: "We wish everyone a Merry Christmas!"
The Washington Times reports that O'Donnell also issued lewd tweets to conservative commentator Ben Shapiro after he noted that President Trump would be carved into Mount Rushmore if he orders a federal investigation of O'Donnell.
Due to the nature of her comments -- which were later deleted -- Twitter suspended O'Donnell's account.
