The
Parable Of The Ten Virgins
AT
THAT TIME THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
WILL
BE LIKE TEN VIRGINS
WHO
TOOK THEIR LAMPS
AND
WENT OUT TO MEET THE BRIDEGROOM.
2
FIVE OF THEM WERE FOOLISH
AND
FIVE WERE WISE.
3
TO FOOLISH ONES TOOK THEIR LAMPS
BUT
DID NOT TAKE ANY OIL WITH THEM.
4
THE WISE, HOWEVER, TOOK OIL IN JARS
ALONG
WITH THEIR LAMPS.
5
THE BRIDEGROOM WAS A LONG TIME COMING,
AND
THEY ALL BECAME DROWSY AND FELL ASLEEP.
6
AT MIDNIGHT THE CRY RAN OUT:
'HERE'S
THE BRIDEGROOM!
COME
OUT TO MEET HIM!'
7
THEN ALL THE VIRGINS WOKE UP
AND
TRIMMED THEIR LAMPS.
8
THE FOOLISH ONES SAID TO THE WISE,
'GIVE
US SOME OF YOUR OIL;
OUR
LAMPS ARE GOING OUT.'
9
'NO,' THEY REPLIED,
THEIR
MAY NOT BE ENOUGH FOR BOTH US AND YOU.
INSTEAD,
GO TO THOSE WHO SELL OIL
AND
BUY SOME FOR YOURSELVES.'
10
'BUT WHILE THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY TO BUY OIL,
THE
BRIDEGROOM ARRIVED.
THE
VIRGINS WHO WERE READY
WENT
IN WITH HIM TO THE WEDDING BANQUET.
AND
THE DOOR WAS SHUT.
11
LATER THE OTHERS ALSO CAME.
'SIR!
SIR! THEY SAID.
OPEN
THE DOOR FOR US!'
12
BUT HE REPLIED,
'I
TELL YOU THE TRUTH,
I
DON'T KNOW YOU.'
13
'THEREFORE KEEP WATCH,
BECAUSE
YOU DO NOT KNOW
THE
DAY OR THE HOUR.'
(Matthew
25:1-13)
Ten
Virgins (Christians)
Were
anticipating the Bridegroom (Christ Jesus).
(Virgins
being those who have
Made
a Confession of Faith in Christ Jesus,
And
have been forgiven of their Sin.)
They
all had Lamps
(Lamps
being their Faith in Christ Jesus)
But
only the Wise Christians had Oil.
(Oil
being that which is necessary to keep Faith Alive;
Oil,
a type of the Holy Spirit,
That
only comes with relationship with Him;
Walking
with Him Daily;
Praying
in the Spirit.)
Christ
Jesus, the Bridegroom was a long time coming
And
the Christians were all Drowsy and fell Asleep.
(It
has been Two Thousand Years
Since
Christ Jesus ascended into Heaven,
Yet
He said that He was coning Soon;
That
we were to be waiting for Him,
And
that He would come at an Unexpected time.)
At
Midnight (the Unexpected time)
The
Bridegroom, Christ Jesus came;
The
Cry went out.
All
the Christians woke up and trimmed their Lamps
(Awakened
their Faith in Christ Jesus).
At
that time the Foolish Christians realize
That
they did not have enough Oil
(Relationship
with Christ Jesus, through the Holy Spirit),
To
Meet Him.
They
asked the Wise Christians
To
give them some of their Oil,
But
it is Impossible for one Christian
To
give their Oil,
Their
relationship with Christ Jesus, to another.
The
Wise Christians told the Foolish Christians
To
go to those who sell Oil
And
buy some for themselves.
But
of course Oil, relationship with Christ Jesus
Through
the Holy Spirit, cannot be purchased.
The
Christians who were ready
Went
into the Wedding Banquet.
AND
THE DOOR WAS SHUT.
Later
the Foolish Christians came
And
asked Christ Jesus to open the Door for them,
But
He replied
THAT
HE DID NOT KNOW THEM
(They
had no relationship with Him)
Christ
Jesus Admonishes every Christian
TO
KEEP WATCH,
Because
He will come at an Unexpected Time.
Thus,
one will be taken
And
one will be left behind. (Matthew 24:40)
This
may mean that one-half of Christians
Will
be left behind at the Coming of Christ Jesus.
