CNN Claims All Trump Voters Are 'White Supremacists By Default'

CNN is finally saying what it has wanted to say from the very beginning: If you voted for President Trump, you're a racist.

And the violent race riot that took place this month in Charlottesville, leaving one dead, is also the fault of Trump voters, writes CNN's John Blake in a piece headlined "White supremacists by default: How ordinary people made Charlottesville possible."

"The tragedy that took place in Charlottesville this month could not have occurred without the tacit acceptance of millions of ordinary, law-abiding Americans who helped create such a racially explosive climate, some activists, historians and victims of extremism say," he wrote. And that, of course, means Trump voters. (You thought we were going to say the white supremacists who perpetrated the violence were to blame? Pshaw — it's Trump voters — duh!)

Blake goes on.

"It's easy to focus on the angry white men in paramilitary gear who looked like they were mobilizing for a race war in the Virginia college town. But it's the ordinary people — the voters who elected a reality TV star with a record of making racially insensitive comments, the people who move out of the neighborhood when people of color move in, the family members who ignore a relative's anti-Semitism — who give these type of men room to operate, they say."

Fascinating grouping right there. Blake goes from Trump voter to racist to Jew-hater in three little steps — and thereby neatly groups all three. If you're a Trump supporter, you're probably all these things — and maybe even worse.

Blake hands his megaphone over to people he describes as “activists, historians and victims of extremism,” but he doesn't bother to balance out his reporting, with, say, an opposing view, someone who might say that many Trump voters are just hard-working, family-loving people who don't have a racist bone in their bodies. Instead, he lets his "experts" make whatever outlandish statement they wish — like accusing every Trump voter of being deeply racist.

For instance, Carol Anderson, author of White Rage and a professor of African-American studies at Emory University in Atlanta, simply declares that Trump is a racist, and thus, so are all of his supporters.

"This is who he is, this is what he does," she said. "'Mexicans are rapists and criminals.' That's what he said in his first speech. Their complicity comes in the form of self-denial instead of owning it."

Blake and CNN let another expert, Mark Naison, a political activist and history professor at Fordham University in New York City, just say whatever he wants, completely unchecked by any countervailing viewpoint.

''You have to have millions of people who are willing to be bystanders, who push aside evidence of racism, Islamophobia or sexism. You can't have one without the other,'' Naison said in the piece. "We are a country with a few million passionate white supremacists — and tens of millions of white supremacists by default."

And there you go. It's really what CNN has wanted to say all along — you're all racist!

Naison says Trump supporters are "nice people" but are secretly as bad as those who stood by silently and let the Holocaust happen.

"That was the twisted formula that made the Holocaust and Rwanda possible and allowed Jim Crow segregation to survive: Nice people looked the other way while those with an appetite for violence did the dirty work,” CNN reports, paraphrasing Naison.

CNN concludes the piece with this: “If you want to know why those white racists now feel so emboldened, it may help to look at all the ordinary people around you, your neighbors, your family members, your leaders. But first, start by looking at yourself."

Especially you, you racist Trump voter.
