Just Pay Attention
Emmanuela Ellis
Therefore… partners in a heavenly calling, keep your focus on Jesus, Hebrews 3:1a (ISV)
Why is it that we often draw closer to our fleshly desires instead of God?
After all, the satisfaction derived from fulfilling our flesh lasts but a moment, after which we often beat ourselves up and must face the consequences of our choice.
The frequency at which we find ourselves drawing away from God and His will can sometimes be very frustrating. However, if properly utilized, this continuing presence of frustration can propel us to do things God’s way and renew our minds in Christ.
As Christians, our journey towards God’s ultimate will and plan can be likened to driving. Just like driving, if we allow ourselves to become distracted, we may get off on an incorrect exit and end up at the wrong destination.
There are many things that can draw our attention away from God.
These distractions focused on, cause our flesh to lead us astray.
If we hope to arrive at God’s desired destination for our lives, we must keep our attention on Jesus and avoid being side-tracked. Jesus and his finished work on the cross should always be our central focus.
Constant fellowship with God through prayer and the word will enable us to stay the course as we receive grace to follow Him.
