Open Doors - Karen Pourbabaee
“…behold, I have left an open door before you which no one can close…” Revelation 3:8 NASB
One sunny afternoon I had a profound conversation with a two year old. Yes, that’s right. When I asked my little grandson what he knew about God, he pointed with his stick (aka as a pirate sword) to the back door and simply said, “He opens the door.” I’ve been pondering that ever since.
From Revelation 3:20, we know that God stands at closed doors and knocks, waiting for us to open our hearts to Him. But God also leaves open doors for His children, described in Rev. 3:8 as limited in strength, keeping His Word, and not denying His name. If you fit that description, there’s an open door waiting for you. Time to search.
Not a physical search, but a spiritual seeking. We find open doors by prayer. The Lord leads the way to the threshold. While it literally means a piece of wood or stone forming the bottom of a doorway, it also means a point of entry or beginning. But I love this synonym: dawn!
“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” (Proverbs 4:18 NAS)
As we approach an open door of the Lord, we are suddenly illuminated with the light of dawn. God gives us a new vision as we turn from the past and walk through His open door. It can be a new beginning, a different point of entry into God’s continuing plan for our lives. Approach the threshold of the Lord and boldly enter the path of the righteous prepared just for you. It’s a new day. Amen.
