President Trump: "I've Always Felt The Need To Pray, But I Need God Even More Now"
(HELLO CHRISTIAN) In an exclusive interview with CBN, President Trump sat down with David Brody for a chat about his faith, the supreme court, and the role of his immigration policy in welcoming persecuted Christians into the United States.
Trump has been vocal about his changes to immigration policy in the US, restricting the pouring in of Syrian refugees. But what about the persecuted Christians? Will he help them get onto American soil? "Yes," Trump states firmly. "They've been horribly treated. You know, if you were a Christian in Syria, it has been impossible, very very tough to get into the United States. If you were a Muslim you could come in, but if you were a Christian it was almost impossible."
"They were chopping off the heads of everybody, but even more so the Christians. And I thought it was very, very unfair. So we are going to help them."
With the President set to announce his Supreme Court nominee next week, Brody asked Trump whether the evangelicals would be happy with his pick. "All 20 are fantastic people. I think that the person that I pick, evangelicals, Christians will love my pick, and will represented very fairly."
Brody then went on to ask the President about his personal faith in God and quizzed him on whether his need to pray has increased since taking such a weighty office. "Well, I tell you what, I've always felt the need to pray," Trump declared. "So I would say that the office is so powerful, that you need God even more. Your decisions are no longer "Gee, I'm gonna build a building in New York," these are questions of massive life and death."
"Even with regard to healthcare, you're talking about life and death, and you're talking about better lives. People living better lives because they have better healthcare at a lower price, which we're working very hard on."
"So yeah, you realize these decisions are all so important. There's almost not a decision that you make when you're sitting in this position that isn't really life-altering."
"So God comes into it even more so."
