RUSH, BUCHANAN: ANTI-TRUMP PROTESTS MAY BE HELPING TRUMP
1960s rioters 'helped put Ronald Reagan in governor's mansion'
Donald Trump may have a surprising new ally – the protesters who hate his guts.
Screaming anti-Trump protesters have besieged some of the candidate’s recent rallies, attacking his supporters, shouting obscenities and even burning American flags.
But according to talk-radio icon Rush Limbaugh, the left wing media is concerned the protesters will actually end up electing Trump because they can’t restrain themselves.
“They’re all worried about it,” said Limbaugh on Monday’s show. “Hey, wait a minute, all those Mexican flags and the prison yard look to this? It’s gonna, that’s gonna probably end up helping Trump.”
The broadcast titan was responding to a Trump supporter who had attended the candidate’s Costa Mesa rally Thursday night and called into the show. The caller said the anti-Trump protesters were “bad guys” who did not resemble college students or typical left wing protesters. Many of the Trump opponents who protested the rally waved Mexican flags and were described by the caller as having a “prison yard” look.
Limbaugh agreed with the caller’s characterization of the protesters as “bad guys” and recalled the protesters’ attempt to prevent Trump from addressing California’s Republican convention on Friday.
“This is who they are,” said Limbaugh. “Now, that is genuine and real. This is what the tea party was accused of being back in 2010, 2011, 2012, and that’s who these people really are.”
However, Limbaugh suggested the protesters may be hurting their own cause because of the negative image they are presenting to American voters.
He cited a recent report in the Los Angeles Times fretting about the “unintended consequences” of anti-Trump protesters waving Mexican flags and destroying property.
Limbaugh also praised Trump for showing no fear and entering the building “fearlessly, unafraid.”
Veteran political analyst and bestselling author Pat Buchanan says leftists are right to be concerned they are unintentionally helping Trump. When confronted by vulgar protesters waving the flags of a foreign nation, Trump appears like a strong leader confronting anti-American rioters.

“The hard-core leftists disrupting Trump’s rallies to keep him from speaking are the real enemies of the First Amendment,” Buchanan told WND. But the author of “The Death of the West” said if they keep it up, they will help Trump get elected.
“To the degree that they are seen as Trump’s opposition, they solidify his support and will attract new people,” Buchanan said. “The 1960s’ forebears of these rioters helped put Ronald Reagan in the governor’s mansion in Sacramento and Richard Nixon in the White House.”
Former New York Police Department officer John Cardillo, now a conservative talk radio host, said the protests “absolutely” help Trump.
“Every time a person is sent to the hospital by a group waving Mexican flags and stomping on police cars in the streets of an American city, Trump’s positions are validated,” he said. “Trump is a convenient target because of his rhetoric, but in reality their actual target is America and the American way of life. These radicals want to fundamentally transform America into a socialist nation where sovereignty is abandoned for multi-culturalism and radicalism.”
Even children are being drafted into the left’s anti-Trump effort. Trump supporters have widely shared a video featuring a group of children waving Mexican flags, making vulgar gestures and screaming at Trump supporters driving by.The effort is reminiscent of a video produced by the group “Deport Racism,” which produced a vulgar, anti-Trump video earlier this year. The video featured Hispanic children screaming curse words and flipping the middle finger at Trump, all the while claiming to oppose “hate.”
Limbaugh charged these kinds of protests are “bought and paid for by people like George Soros and other donors to the Democrat Party.”
Cardillo also argued the anti-Trump protests are not spontaneous, but the product of far left donors fanatically committed to pushing open borders and mass immigration.
“These protests are funded by leftists who Trump’s anti-immigration agenda directly impacts,” said Cardillo. “Moreover, Trump’s anti-union positions hurt organizers and benefactors of the radical protest like the SEIU (Service Employees International Union). No matter if it’s a shooting involving police, the California GOP Convention, or a Trump event, we tend to see the same groups at these rallies. The SEIU, La Raza, Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, New Black Panther Party, Nation of Islam, various Palestinian groups, etc. And as we track the money, it always seems to lead back to the usual suspects. George Soros, SEIU, and other far left funding sources.”
The far left protesters are also presenting a problem for Trump’s most stubborn opponent in the Republican primary, Sen. Ted Cruz. Cruz came under fire earlier this year when he appeared to side with Black Lives Matter protesters who prevented a Donald Trump rally in Chicago before the Illinois primary.
Cruz said: “In any campaign, responsibility starts at the top… and when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this kind of nasty discourse.”At the time, Cardillo argued Cruz had “lost the cops.” Cruz went on to lose the Illinois primary by a narrow margin.
Cruz has been more vocal in condemning left wing protesters this time.
“You don’t have a right to threaten violence, you don’t have a right to shout down others, and these protesters appear to be trying to use violence and threats,” said Cruz about the protests in California. “These are the strategies of MoveOn.org, of the left wing agitators, who try to silence a voice they don’t like. If you disagree with a particular voice, the way to deal with it is with civil discourse, with respectful discourse.”
Some conservative writers associated with the #NeverTrump movement, notably David French of National Review, also blasted the violent tactics of the anti-Trump protesters and accused the media of “whitewashing” the disorder.
Buchanan called for solidarity among the candidates in confronting violent protests.
“Every candidate has a vital interest in being able to communicate freely, and a concomitant duty to condemn this kind of anarchism, no matter its target,” he said.
But whatever the common interest Cruz, Trump and other Republicans may have in facing down the militant left, it appears to be only Trump who is benefiting from the left’s hysteria.
A poll from Gravis released on Monday and partially taken after the events in Costa Mesa shows Trump beginning to pull away in the critical Indiana primary. Of those voters sampled, Trump led with 44 percent of voters compared to 27 percent who supported Ted Cruz. Nine percent of voters supported John Kasich, with 19 percent “uncertain.”
