Fleming on Empty Chair At SOTU: ‘What About The 57 Million Babies That Have Been Killed Since Roe v. Wade?’

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) told CNSNews.com on Tuesday night that President Obama’s empty chair prop at the State of the Union address could have represented victims other than those who died from being shot with a gun.
At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNSNews.com asked Fleming, "Let me also ask you about the empty chair that's planned for the event tonight for the State of the Union speech that is supposed to represent the victims of gun violence. Do you have a comment on that symbolism or what that means, or could it be used for something better?"
“I think it could be used for something far better," said Rep. Fleming. "What about the 57 million babies that have been killed since Roe v. Wade in 1973? The president really does not even acknowledge that.”
“So, yes, there is gun violence, but we find that gun violence is worse where we have the most gun control,” Fleming said, noting that the Constitution allows citizens to own guns.
“The American citizens through the Second Amendment are allowed to own guns to protect themselves,” Fleming said. “And with the law enforcement that we see in large cities today, being as weak as it is and crime going up, you can’t just depend on law enforcement or the administrations of these cities, which, by the way, are all Democrat and all very liberal leaning.”
“What we have, really, is worsening crime in the cities and Americans deserve to have protection, and if the cities can’t do it for them, they should be able to do it for themselves,” Fleming said.
“But also, what are we going to do for the 57 million babies and those going forward that are not being protected by their government either?” he said in conclusion.
