Islam expert says politicians, cops 'afraid of being called racists'

A fear of provoking xenophobia caused German police and politicians to keep secret the enormous crime problem among North African migrants in the country, the German newspaper Die Welt reports.

But Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative and a WND columnist, said there are many dangers from hiding the truth from the German people.

“They are betraying their own people to a future of bloodshed and committing national suicide,” Geller said. “They will go down in history with Hitler as the destroyers of Germany.”

North African migrants have committed particularly high levels of crime for years in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, according to the report. The region includes the city of Cologne, which suffered a barrage of sexual assaults on New Year’s Eve.

Integral to the problem is the fact that most of the migrants are Muslim.

Die Welt did not report how long North African migrant crime has been a major problem, but the paper said regional authorities treated it as a “long-guarded state secret” until very recently.

Members of various political parties agreed that knowledge of the crimes would tilt public perception against the refugees. Also, they did not want to give ammunition to the AFD, a right-wing party that opposes immigration.

Geller, author of “Stop the Islamization of America,” believes it was part cowardice and part malevolence that led German leaders to hold their tongues.

“They are afraid of being called racists and think the German people need to be reeducated to be more welcoming of ‘the other,'” she asserted.

Geller explained what she means by “the other.”

“The leftist government and media establishment constantly scold and admonish citizens of Western countries that they need to be more welcoming of non-Westerners.,” she said. “Leftist analysts claim that Europeans and Americans who oppose the migrant influx are motivated by fear and hatred of people of a different race – ‘the other’ – when in reality we’re motivated by a desire to preserve free, safe and stable societies.”

However, the veil of silence began to lift last week, when the Interior Committee of North Rhine-Westphalia’s parliament debated the migrant attacks in Cologne for the first time, according to Die Welt.

Ralf Jager, the region’s interior minister, admitted it was almost exclusively migrants who carried out the Cologne assaults, while the police chief said “North African-Arab men” ripped the clothing from women’s bodies and “penetrated” them.

The debate may have begun in one German region, but Europe has absorbed more than a million migrants and refugees since the beginning of 2015, and the European Commission expects 3 million to arrive on the continent by the end of 2017.

Andrew McCarthy wrote at National Review that the attacks in Cologne are “what happens” when “the West’s fantasy Islam collides with the reality of an imported critical mass of unassimilated – and defiantly unassimilable – Muslims”:

“That was just Ground Zero of the New Year’s Eve rape jihad in Germany. As National Review’s Ian Tuttle notes in an alarming column about the predictable – and, if I may say, predicted – surge of sexual assault in a Europe overrun by ‘migrants,’ the jihad included similar episodes, albeit on a smaller scale, in Stuttgart, Hamburg, and even astride the Brandenburg gate in Berlin.”

He noted the secrecy regarding the violence that was maintained.

“First there was no news; then, a few disturbing hints of gropings and robberies by gangs of ‘Middle Eastern or North African’ men. Now, we know it was a mass atrocity – the only remaining question being: How massive?” he said.

“Upward of a thousand men, overwhelmingly Muslim, executed a coordinated series of attacks on an obvious target of opportunity: street celebrations in the major cities of a reviled Western state, where they were certain to find throngs of young women and a police presence grossly inadequate to provide security – certainly not against a critical mass of Islamic supremacists.”

He said it is this “rape jihad” by Muslim migrants that is “the fact most desperately suppressed by German officials.”

Geller summed up her thoughts on Europe: “It is committing civilizational suicide.”
