HUMILIATION USA
AN AMERICAN MANIFESTO WITH 1 YEAR TO GO
Exclusive: Barry Farber likens Obama to kidney stone that'll take 12 months to pass
Are you prepared to believe that America employed astrologers during World War II?
Did we believe in astrology? Absolutely not. But we realized that Hitler did believe in astrology. So we used astrologers to try to figure out what Hitler’s astrologers were telling him!
If you’d like something more solid than astrology to help you glance at the cards of the other side, why not try history? Noting how your adversaries have behaved in certain situations in the past is a lot more trustworthy method of predicting their behavior. It’s an even more reliable guide if your adversary happens to be a dictator, and it’s almost as tattle-tale-telling as a deck of well-marked cards if he happens to be a dictator bound by religion.
Do you recall how accurately the Iranians read and then rolled President Jimmy Carter during the more-than-400-day hostage crisis beginning in 1979? It was too tragic a disaster to laugh about when the American helicopters in that absurd rescue mission crashed at a bus stop in the desert, a catastrophe emblematic of the entire Carter presidency.
The mullahs knew they could roll Carter any-and-every which-a-way, but they instinctively feared what Ronald Reagan might do if he became president. So, when Reagan was elected in November 1980, his election wasn’t enough for the Iranians. Who knew what might have happened between the election and Reagan’s inauguration? No, the Iranians waited until Jan. 20 of 1981, the instant Reagan actually became president, before announcing, “OK. We give up. Your embassy people are free to fly home today!”
America today is a sorrier sight! While the Iranians rejoice in their video of American sailors – military servants of the Great Satan, mind you! – on their knees, hands over their heads, their weapons seized by the Revolutionary Guards – American national humiliation is in the air like industrial-strength ammonia.
The Obama administration seems to say to Iran, “Thank you for the humiliation,” and actually takes Iran’s side in arguments before the U.N. and elsewhere, as Iran is officially hailed by the U.N. as being in compliance and now the lucky winner of $150 billion in previously frozen assets!
And the world sees an alleged, a possible, at least a once-upon-a-time superpower doing nothing to assuage, counter, mitigate or soften the humiliation of the Persian Gulf incident, in effect endorsing Iran’s claims of a has-been America unable to do anything except comply and obey the orders of the new superpower, Iran.
Not a good image for those Americans who long for America’s fair measure of international respect, who say somewhat more to their Iranian oppressors than, “Kick me again, please!” Obama is not challenging the Iranian humiliation aimed at all of us through him. And humiliation unchallenged is humiliation ratified.
It’s time to let fly with an American “Huzzah!” What used to be called a “white paper” or a “manifesto” is a way a nation can tell the world something it ought to know.
The American manifesto I have in mind should be signed by everybody not surgically connected to Obama or his team. Round up the old Democratic patriots, Republicans left to right, every American who’s an elected official to state legislatures and all the mayors willing to join.
This manifesto will tell the world, “You may be wondering what happened to America. The good news is, we’re still here, albeit no longer audible or visible, smothered underneath the most self-destructive leadership in our history. You have every right to think we’re over-with and done-for. But dismiss us at your peril.
Despite the cowardly policies that convince you America is too inept to shoo an annoying fly off its nose, we are one election away from an America that can correct its wretched decline with a finger-snap.
We promise you that if we ever again have our military personnel disarmed, on their knees with hands behind their heads, no American leader will call it ‘standard nautical practice.’ And no American secretary of state in such a situation will ‘thank Iran for the rescue’!
“Again, we do not blame you for thinking the worst of us. We are thoroughly ashamed of the way our feckless leadership has allowed our country to be portrayed.
Different countries have different ways of rejecting leadership that does not truly represent them. America does not favor the barracks revolt, rebellious troops marching on the capital, the heavy tanks coming to a threatening halt in front of the White House.
“We Americans prefer the election.
“If any of you, anywhere, harbor any plans for pushing America out of the way so as to crush the hope of freedom for oppressed peoples or to extinguish democracy in countries that have achieved democracy, we advise you to wait until our election next November. If the candidate being inaugurated one year from today – Jan. 20, 2017 – is not one who was recommended by Barack Obama, your adventuresome plans will not be worth the risk.
“You are not seeing the real America at this time. Sorry, but we regard our current leader as a kidney stone who will take one year to pass. Iran has proven we can stand the pain.”
