SWORD-WIELDING MAN ATTACKS TEACHER IN SWEDEN
Student: 'We thought it was a joke'

A masked man entered a school in the south-western section of Sweden Thursday and unleashed an attack on a teacher with a sword.
The teacher, not yet identified, was killed. Another victim, identified by the press only as a male student at the school, age unknown, died at a nearby hospital a short time later. But based on previous reports, the student had to have been either 11 or 15 years old.
The male suspect, 21, was shot at the scene by police and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
The Guardian reported four in all were hurt.
Prior to the second victim's death, hospital spokesperson said in the Guardian: "We have four seriously injured patients. All are in surgery right now. One is a teacher and two are students. One is 11 and one 15 years old. They have knife wounds. One of the injured is the suspected culprit. He is being operated on for gunshot wounds. A teacher died at the scene."
One of those male students has since died.
The suspect reportedly entered the school in Trolhattan, a city near Gothenburg, wielding a sword. Children and administrators fled the hallways and locked themselves in their classrooms, the Guardian said.
"When we first saw him, we thought it was a joke," said one student to Swedish media. "He had a mask and black clothes and a long sword. There were students who wanted to go with him and hold the sword."
Police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg said to the Associated Press the suspect carried more than one weapon, including a "knife-like object."
The motive isn't yet clear and media outlets have made no mention of radical Islamism or any tie to terrorism, or whether the suspect was connected to the recent influx of refugees to the area.
But just two hours before the attack, government officials announced Sweden was going to take in roughly 190,000 refugees this year alone, a figure that's at least double what was previously expected. On top of that, the neighborhood of Kronogarden in Trolhattan, the city of incident, is a poverty-stricken spot where more than half the residents were born abroad – a suburban site researchers say is the most segregated region in Sweden.
"These suburbs are big trouble and you cannot say that Sweden is an integrated country," said one researcher who looked at the neighborhoods of Sweden's "forgotten suburbs," including Kronogarden in Trolhattan, the Guardian reported. "We have used these suburbs as a repository for those that do not fit into normal
