Candidate Arrested In Britain After Quoting Churchill's Criticisms Of Islam

(CNSNews.com) – A British man running for office in European Union elections next month was arrested over the weekend while giving a speech in which he quoted a young Winston Churchill’s critical observations about Islam.

Paul Weston, who leads a small anti-immigration party called Liberty GB, says police -- after arresting him in the city of Winchester -- originally cited his refusal to obey a dispersal order, but subsequently booked him for allegedly committing a racially- or religiously-aggravated crime, under section four of Britain’s Public Order Act.

He was fingerprinted, released on bail and told to report to the police on May 24. In the meantime prosecution authorities will decide whether he should be put on trial.

Section four of the act states that conviction for a “racially/religiously aggravated” offense carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

Liberty GB released a video showing Weston, armed with a megaphone, quoting from ‘The River War,” a book written by Churchill about his experiences as a young army officer in Sudan at the turn of the 20th century. The video clip goes on to show police searching him before putting him into a van.

Quoting verbatim (apart from replacing words like “Mohammedanism” with “Islamism”), Weston briefly shared Churchill’s views on Islam, including the way it treats its followers and women.

“The fact that in Islamic law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a wel—a wife, a child, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power amongst men,” he said.  

“Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the Islamic religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in this world – and far from being moribund, Islamism is a militant and proselytizing faith.”

Churchill went on to become a Conservative Party member of parliament, cabinet minister, and prime minister from 1940-45 and again from 1951-55.

Britain’s Press Association quoted a county police spokesman as saying a 50-year-old man was arrested after failing to comply with a dispersal order which was “issued following complaints from members of the public about the man's behavior.”

“He was further arrested on suspicion of religious/racial harassment. He has been bailed pending further inquiries to report back to police on May 24.”

Weston’s May 24 date to present himself to the police coincides with the May 22-25 elections for the European Parliament. Weston and two other Liberty GB candidates are standing a constituency in south-east England, which sends 10 members to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.

Liberty GB, which was launched last year, says Britain’s mainstream parties refuse to discuss “the most important issues of our time.” It lists these as “mass immigration from the Third World, the steady rise of fundamentalist Islam and the hijacking of traditional British culture and institutions by well-organized left-wing ‘progressives.’”

My comments: So much for free speech in Britain. It is appalling that after so much trouble with the Islamism in Britain they attempt to suppress the truth about Islam, the Islam that Winston accurately commented on. Will fear of Islam silence the world and the truth?

The courage to confess wrongdoing can defeat Chicago-style politics

With Europeans intrigued by America’s unexpected success, Alexis de Tocqueville carried out an in-depth study of the new nation in the 1830s. He was quite impressed by our divided government, which featured the separation of powers.

This structure made it difficult for any one branch — executive, judicial or legislative — to acquire too much power and run roughshod over the other branches and the will of the American people. Unfortunately, today we are witnessing a largely unchecked executive branch issuing decrees that circumvent Congress while facing only tepid resistance.

In civilian life, when a contract is entered into by two parties and it is subsequently discovered that one side knowingly presented false promises in order to consummate the deal, a legitimate lawsuit can be initiated on the basis of fraud. The Affordable Care Act is a prime example of such a contract in the form of a bill, which would never have been passed if it had been revealed that millions of people would lose their health insurance with which they were satisfied and that they would not be able to keep their doctor if they like their doctor, among other promises.

Nevertheless, this massive case of fraud is not been legally challenged by the legislative branch, leaving one to wonder why.

We hear a great deal about “Chicago-style politics.” It is nothing more than a euphemism for political corruption, including bullying, blackmail and bribery. These pressures can be applied to national political figures just as easily as they can be to local politicians.

Courage can be quite difficult to find when the threat of exposure hangs over one’s head. In an age when Big Brother is capable of watching everything we do, it is not hard to imagine a scenario in which large numbers of public servants are silenced or subdued by secretive threats.

I have had an opportunity to witness firsthand how the blackmail threat operates. Several years ago while I was in the operating room, I received a call from one of the legal offices at Johns Hopkins University informing me that the state of Florida was trying to attach my wages for child support.

I was quite shocked at such an allegation and informed them that I had three children, which I already support very ably. They said a woman in Florida was accusing me of being the father of her son, and that she had proof of our relationship. The proof turned out to be knowledge of where I went to high school, college, medical school, and where I served my internship and residency. To top all that off, she had a picture of me in scrubs. I said anyone could obtain such information. However, the paternity suit was pursued, and I had to involve my personal lawyer.

As the case advanced, I was asked to provide a blood specimen to facilitate DNA testing. I refused on the basis of the incompetence of any governmental agency that was willing to pursue a paternity suit on such flimsy grounds. I said that level of incompetence would probably result in my blood specimen being found at a murder scene and me spending the rest of my life in prison.

Shortly thereafter, the suit was dropped with no further ramifications. I’m virtually certain that the woman in Florida erroneously assumed that someone who travels as much as I do was probably engaging in numerous extramarital affairs and probably wouldn’t even remember all the parties with whom he had been involved. Under such circumstances, she assumed that I would be willing to fork over the money to avoid public embarrassment.

What she didn’t know is that I did not have to scratch my head and try to remember which affair she represented, because I knew that the only woman I have ever slept with in my life was my wife. Even if that had not been the case, I think confession and dealing with the consequences would have been the best course of action. 

In the early history of America, Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton was seduced by the wife of a political enemy with the intention of blackmailing him into complying with their wishes. Hamilton publicly confessed his transgression and the public forgave him, completely thwarting the plans of his adversaries. 

I think the American people are just as forgiving today if people are willing to be honest. With so much at stake regarding our country’s future, I think now would be an excellent time to come clean for all national public figures who have been threatened by Chicago-style politics or who know that there are skeletons in their closet.

If it’s all done in a short time span, the media will be overwhelmed, and the people will quickly understand the extent of the disgusting and dishonest practices infesting the highest levels of government.

Importantly, our public officials will be able to act with courage and conviction to rectify the corrupt practices that are all too readily ignored and threaten the moral fabric of our nation. I am confident that the American people will be both forgiving and grateful for the willingness of public figures to take a risk to preserve the American way of life.

My comments: Dr. Carson is correct in saying, that if Obamacare had be truthfully advertised it never would have passed. Obama and his administration are not only corrupt but anti-Christ. by FORCING, by Law, Christians to pay for a Contraception Mandate which is against their Faith and Conscience. But Obama and the Democrats are Abortionist Murderers who have seared their God given conscience so that they are willing to do ANYTHING to push forward their "TRANSFORMATION"  of America into a godless, Secular Humanist State. "Blue America," the Babylon of America, and the Main Stream Media, who put them in office are applauding all of this. They want a Secular Humanist Dictatorship that reflects their godless "values." Will Obama Give Israel A "Take-It-Or-Leave-It" Peace Plan

In a bitter speech blaming the Israelis as well as the Palestinians for the collapse of the peace process to which he has devoted so much time and energy, Secretary of State John Kerry suggested the possibility of a future “take-it-or-leave-it” peace plan that America would insist both sides accept. My heart ached when I read this report—if we want God's judgment to fall on America, there is no better way to make that happen than for us to curse Israel.

I have nine beautiful grandchildren, and I want them to live in a country that is safe and happy and blessed—not cursed. I know you want the same thing for those you love. It is vital that we stand together right now in defense of Israel and the Jewish people.

My comments: Secretary Kerry is an arrogant man serving Obama another arrogant man. Kerry and Obama think by the force of their personalities they can MAKE PEACE in Israel who is assailed daily by vicious adversaries on every side; who want to see Israel obliterated.

There will be no Peace in Israel until the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus returns. As Dr. Evans says, if Obama and Kerry force a plan on Israel that is not in their best interest; in other words CURSE Israel, they will bring the CURSE of God Almighty upon America. America who is already under the CURSE of disobedience to God.

Ted Cruz Demands Kerry Resign After 'Apartheid' Remark

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) demanded on the Senate floor Monday that Secretary of State John Kerry resign from his post following highly controversial remarks about the state of Israel. Kerry came under fire from lawmakers and a variety of pro-Israel organizations after he told world leaders in a closed door meeting that Israel risks becoming “an apartheid state” if it fails to reach peace with the Palestinians. Israel cut off peace talks late last week after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas formed a unity government with the terror group Hamas, which announced that it would not renounce violence or recognize Israel’s right to exist.

 Cruz said in a speech on the Senate floor that Kerry should immediately offer his resignation to President Barack Obama. “John Kerry should offer President Obama his resignation and the president should accept it,” Cruz said. Cruz said that Kerry’s comments brought him “great sadness.” “There is no place for this word in the context of the state of Israel,” Cruz said. “The term ‘apartheid,’ means ‘apart, different, isolated.’ The state of the victims of apartheid with which the Jews are tragically all too familiar.” Cruz said that Israel has nothing in common with apartheid South Africa. 

The notion that Israel would go down that path and so face the same condemnation that faced South Africa is unconscionable,” he said. “The United States should be aggressively asserting that Israel can never be made an apartheid nation while America exists and stands beside her. Because America will be with Israel regardless of the status of the diplomatic process.” The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the nation’s leading pro-Israel lobbying outfit, also condemned Kerry, referring to his comments as “inappropriate” and disturbing.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s comments that Israel will become an "apartheid state" if a peace agreement is not reached with the Palestinian Authority (PA) have been met with outrage, and his spokeswoman had trouble explaining them on Monday. The Washington Free Beacon noted that State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, stumbled when asked to acknowledge the offensiveness of Kerry’s remarks. All Psaki could come up with to justify the statement was that it was part of Kerry’s support for the “two-state solution” and that “many officials have used similar phrases”.

My comments: Kerry apparently wants to impose his will upon upon Israel. This must be Obama's thinking also otherwise Kerry would not have dared to speak as he did. The Palestinians obviously do not want Peace with Israel. They want to see her destroyed. Who is Kerry to think that he can bring about Peace when one side is devoted to the destruction of the other. Two students are suing the University of Hawaii for violating their First Amendment rights after administrator prevented them from distributing copies of the U.S. Constitution — demonstrating a frightening lack of knowledge about the very legal document they were attempting to censor.

Students Merritt Burch and Anthony Vizzone, members of the Young Americans for Liberty chapter at UH-Hilo, were prevented from handing out copies of the Constitution at a recruitment event in January. A week later, they were again informed by a censorship-minded administrator that their First Amendment-protected activities were in violation of school policy.

The students were told that they could only distribute literature from within UH-Hilo’s “free speech zone,” a small, muddy, frequently-flooded area on the edge of campus.

Administrators further clarified their level of respect for students’ free speech rights, making comments like, “This isn’t really the ’60s anymore,” and “people can’t really protest like that anymore,” according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.

The First Amendment has not been modified since the 1960s, however, and robustly protects the rights of students at public universities to hold non-disruptive protests, speak their mind and distribute literature.

Administrators also maintained that university policy took precedent over Constitutional rights, according to the complaint.

“It’s not about your rights in this case, it’s about the University policy that you can’t approach people,” said Ellen Kusano, director of Student Affairs, according to the complaint.

Greg Lukianoff, president of FIRE, could not immediately be reached for comment, but wrote in a statement that UH’s action were “absolutely unacceptable.”

Sarah Palin rallied the faithful at the National Rifle Association's convention on Saturday, saying that they are "needed now more than ever because every day, we are seeing more and more efforts to strip away our Second Amendment rights."

"They are trying, though. You know who 'they' are?" she asked the 13,000 attendees at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, referring to the Obama administration. "If you control oil, you control an economy. If you control money, you control commerce.

"But if you control arms, you control the people," she added. "And that is what they're trying to do."

Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, opened the NRA's "Stand and Fight Rally" at the annual meeting, which began Friday. 

Retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Oliver North also spoke — and the crowd was entertained by country singer Sara Evans and the Grammy-winning legendary group Alabama.

On Sunday, the Rev. Franklin Graham, son of the renowned evangelist Billy Graham, will be they keynote speaker at the association's prayer breakfast.

In her 12-minute speech, Palin blasted everyone from President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to Attorney General Eric Holder and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. She charged that the administration's attack on the Second Amendment was also an assault on the nation's "foundational values and tradition."

"They are not right when they preach tolerance and free speech," Palin said. "So when a kid at school is cursing away like any character in any [Quentin] Tarantino movie, no one bats an eye. But when a kid says a prayer in school, these hypocrites lose their minds."

"They are not right," she continued, referring to Obama's foreign policy efforts that "poke our allies in the eye, calling them adversaries, instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies. Enemies who would annihilate America. … But you can't offend them. Can't make them uncomfortable.

"Well, if I were in charge," Palin added, pausing for sustained applause from the audience, "they would know that waterboarding is the way we baptize terrorists."

She also slammed Biden's suggestion last year his wife, Jill, fire two warning shots in the air to ward off an intruder, referring to the vice president as "Joe Squirt Gun."

"That's fine … if your rapist is a bird," Palin said, triggering laughs from the attendees. "Gals, you know, nowadays, ammo is expensive. Don't waste a bullet on a warning shot."

She also attacked Holder's testimony before a House committee earlier this month that he envisioned the day when gun owners would wear bracelets that allowed only them to operate their guns.

"Hey Holder, you don't want to go there, buddy," Palin said.

She further illustrated her disdain by discussing the three bracelets she wears daily. The first one says "don't tread on me," a motto that has tea party associations.

"That's to honor you, all of you with the clear thinking, and the heart and the guts to stand up and fight for what is right," Palin told the crowd. "Because they don't know what is right."

Her second bracelet honors a "gold star" soldier who died in Afghanistan. Palin did not name the solider, saying only that his name was given to her by his widow. 

"A true hero. He and his family paid the ultimate price for our freedom — and I'll never forget, nor ever disrespect, our finest with slashed numbers and benefits and budgets," she said, referring to recent efforts to slash benefits to veterans and drastically scale back the nation's armed forces. "And Mr. Obama, for shame. Is this how you thank them?

"Friends, they have protected our freedom. We honor those who have served and serve. And we so honor those who will never feel their homeland beneath their feet again. And we salute those gold-star families."

Palin's last bracelet, she said, "celebrates 1791," the year the Bill of Rights was ratified, making the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution law and completing the process begun with the Declaration of Independence.

"That's why we're here: to affirm that solid oath to liberty," she said. "To celebrate family and faith and freedom, knowing that God shed his grace on thee, America.

"So stand and fight for her, for her children's future, for freedom.

"And, buddy," she warned, in another reference to Holder, "you can have these bracelets when you pry them past my cold, dead hands."

My comments: Let us never for get that we live in a world ruled by Satan. Currently the American Government is ruled by godless people who want complete control, who want to "TRANSFORM" America into a godless, Secular Humanist State. The Second Amendment, The Right to Keep and Bear Arms was meant to deter a godless, Authoritarian Government, which is exactly what we now have. Will we stand up for the Freedom God has given us or NOT? The only alternative is to capitulate to a godless, Secular Humanist Government who is currently FORCING you into their godlessness.

What Is Christian Persecution?

Christian persecution is any hostility, experienced from the world, as a result of one's identification with Christ. This can include hostile feelings, attitudes, words and actions. But what does the Bible mean by the word "persecution?" In Matthew 5:10-12, Jesus says in the Beatitudes that persecution is a blessing. Not one that many of us ever desire! Jesus also defines the word for us in Luke 6:22 using four verbs. He says, "Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man." Note that it is Jesus in you who is the reason for and the target of persecution. In Romans 8:17, the Apostle Paul tells us, "Now if we are children, then we are heirs -heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." So when we share in Jesus's sufferings (hatred, exclusion, insults and rejection) we become heirs who will also share in His glory. The four verbs above can be experienced in varying degrees of intensity. When we ask audiences in North America for word associations with the term "persecution," we usually get the answers: torture, imprisonment or martyrdom. We often tend to think of persecution as only the very intense forms. But even when you experience hatred, exclusion, insult and rejection (because of Jesus in you) in a lighter intensity, you are still being persecuted - and therefore are an"heir." The U. S. Opts For Ineffective Sanctions On Russia

The United States announced new sanctions on seven Russian government officials April 28. A long-used tactic, sanctions can yield unpredictable effects or have no effect at all, depending upon how they are crafted. It is commonly assumed that sanctions are applied when a target country's actions are deemed unacceptable. The sanctioning nation presumably chooses sanctions to avoid war when war would be too costly or could result in defeat.

Sanctions' stated purpose is to induce behavioral changes in a target state by causing economic pain. To work, sanctions must therefore cause pain. But they must not be so severe that they convince the target state that war is more desirable than capitulating to the demands of the sanctioning nation.

When Sanctions Work Too Well

In July 1941, when the Japanese invaded Indo-China, the United States responded by freezing all Japanese assets. The United Kingdom and the Dutch East Indies (today's Indonesia) followed suit. The sanctions were quite effective, and Japan wound up cut off from the bulk of international trade, losing 90 percent of its imported oil. Japan had to respond, but instead of withdrawing from Indo-China, it attacked Pearl Harbor. 

The Japanese example is worth considering. The United States placed Japan in a situation where its oil supplies would be depleted in months, at which point Japan would cease to be an industrial power. Tokyo could have accepted the American terms, but once it did this, it would have established a U.S. veto over Japanese decisions.

The Japanese did not trust the United States and were convinced that any capitulation to sanctions would simply lead to more U.S. demands. Tokyo understood the risks of war but calculated that these risks were lower than the risks of complying with U.S. demands (though the Japanese might well have been wrong in this calculation, and Franklin Roosevelt might well have known that Tokyo would choose war over capitulation). Faced with sanctions that would cripple the nation, Japan chose war.

Sanctions perform better against nations that lack retaliatory options, including the option of waging war. Iran is an example of a perfect target for sanctions. Without a deliverable nuclear device, it lacks the option to wage war, and it has few other ways to retaliate. (Even with countries like Iran, however, sanctions can have a limited effect if the target can find ways to get around the sanctions.)

Precision-Guided Sanctions

Placing effective sanctions on a country such as Russia is much more complicated than placing them on countries like Iran or the Central African Republic because the Russians have potential military responses. They also have the ability to retaliate by seizing Western assets in Russia: There are many Western companies doing business in Russia with significant equipment, factories, bank accounts and so on. Moscow also has the power to cut energy supplies to Europe. Whether it would be prudent for Russia respond in those ways is an important question, but the mere fact Russia has a range of retaliatory options is an important consideration.

Partly for that reason and partly because of a theory of sanctions that has emerged in recent years, the United States and some European countries have largely opted out of placing sanctions on Russia as a whole. Instead, they have place sanctions on individuals and a small number of companies in Russia deemed responsible for actions in Ukraine that the United States and Europe find objectionable. We might call these "precision-guided sanctions," or sanctions intended to compel a change in direction without inflicting collateral damage or risking significant retaliation. 

The idea of placing sanctions on regimes rather than on nations originated with the obvious fact that if successful, sanctions on nations harm the entire population, most of whom are innocent and powerless, while leaving the leaders who have created the crisis in power and free to shift the burden to the population. The Iraq example is frequently cited. There, a strong regime of economic sanctions was imposed on the country, severely diminishing Iraqis' standard of living while allowing the leadership to profit from various loopholes intended to ease the burden on the public.

The idea of sanctions against specific leaders to avoid harming the general public emerged from this and other experiences. This approach has dominated the Western response to Russian actions in Ukraine. By attacking the economic interests of key Russian leaders, or at least of their inner circles, the West appears to be trying to force changes in Russian policy toward Ukraine. This raises a number of important questions.

Limits to Sanctions on Russia

First, there is the question of whether Russian leaders care more for power or for money. In the 1990s, money generated power, but the two are more aligned now: Those with power and those with money are the same. It is therefore hard to imagine that the Putin regime will shift policy -- and thereby admit weakness, a fatal error for anyone in power -- to preserve part of its members' fortunes.

Moreover, the Russian leadership has kept some of its money inside Russia to avoid seizure by Western governments. Certainly, some of the leadership's money has flowed out of Russia, but not all of it. The people who have been targeted will not suddenly be hurled onto the welfare rolls in Russia because of the current sanctions. The targeted individuals will respond to the U.S. sanctions with indifference. They may lose some assets in the ensuing treasure hunt. But their resulting domestic popularity boost will offset this, a boost perhaps costing no more than a high-power Washington public relations firm might charge. And given their positions, they can certainly earn back whatever they lose in seizures.

Second, there is the question of intertwined assets. Russian leaders have invested in many Russian companies with interests in Western companies. In some instances, they are involved in joint ventures with Western companies.

To illustrate the Western dilemma, let's assume there  is a joint venture between Rosneft and a Western oil company. How exactly does the West proceed with sanctions in such a situation? Does it seize all or just some of the assets of the joint venture? What liability does it inflict on other shareholders, Western and Russian, who are not on the sanctions list? Now go further and consider an investment in a U.S. private equities firm by a Mexican fund with investors from Cyprus who may include people on the sanctions list. In modern capitalism, investment paths can be twisted indeed.

One might be able to track down assets in a relatively small country with limited assets. But Russia is the eight-largest economy in the world, and its wealth is intertwined with the targets of the sanctions, greatly complicating the challenge of crafting effective precision-guided sanctions. 

Third, there is the political question. Russian President Vladimir Putin's popularity has soared since the Russian annexation of Crimea. As in the West, Russian leaders appearing to act decisively in foreign crises enjoy higher approval ratings, at least initially. Putin may find it difficult not to respond to the sanctions because if he fails to act, he could lose some of the popularity he gained by his appearance of strength. 

Intentionally Ineffective Sanctions

In addition, the United States doesn't want to threaten regime survival in a country with massive military power. Nor does it want to engage in an action that would trigger an invasion of Ukraine and force the United States to either back away or join a war it is unprepared for. It also will try to avoid mistakenly seizing U.S. and European assets -- assets deployed by Russia deliberately to bait Washington into making just such a mistake. 

The Obama administration has a final major reason to avoid effective sanctions. If someone had said a year ago that U.S.-Russian relations would reach the present point, they would have been laughed at, something I can attest to. Foreign investment is a major component of the U.S. economy, and distinguished political leaders are an excellent source of capital. If you are the leader of China, Saudi Arabia or India, all of which have problems with the United States that could conceivably mushroom, you might think twice before investing your money in the United States. And there are more countries than those four that have potential conflicts with the United States.

The U.S. sanctions strategy is therefore not designed to change Russian policies; it is designed to make it look like the United States is trying to change Russian policy. And it is aimed at those in Congress who have made this a major issue and at those parts of the State Department that want to orient U.S. national security policy around the issue of human rights. Both can be told that something is being done -- and both can pretend that something is being done -- when in fact nothing can be done. In a world clamoring for action, prudent leaders sometimes prefer the appearance of doing something to actually doing something.
