OBAMA'S ISIS FARCE

It’s now clear that Barack Obama never intended to permit the U.S. military to take on the ISIS plague in Syria.
Obama’s only interest from the beginning – dating back years when he begged Congress to let him bomb Syrian targets in an effort to facilitate the overthrow of President Bashar Assad – was regime change, not eradication of ISIS.
Obama’s inaction with regard to ISIS has contributed to the biggest refugee problem since World War II.
It has allowed ISIS to consolidate a land mass as large as the United Kingdom.
It has permitted the annihilation of Christian communities and those of other minority religious groups.
And it brought ISIS to the gates of Damascus.
But, in a matter of a few days, an air offensive by Russian forces has seemingly wrought more havoc on ISIS than Obama’s campaigns over the last year.
How is that possible?
Simple.
Since Obama’s primary objective has always been the overthrow of Assad, ISIS is actually his ally, thought he could never admit that publicly.
For Vladimir Putin, his primary objective is bolstering Assad’s position, so he is free to strike out at all those opposing the regime, not the least of which is ISIS.
So, who’s right and who’s wrong?
Honestly, as an American, this is hard to say: But Assad is, without question, the lesser of two evils. In fact, he’s the lesser of many evils in the world. That’s not to say he’s a saint. He’s far from it. But he’s far from the worst tyrannical monster in the Middle East or the rest of the world. So the question must be asked once again: Why has Obama targeted him as the No. 1 enemy in the world?
Assad does not persecute Christians and other minority religious communities. In fact, he successfully enlists them in his fight to beat back ISIS and the U.S. proxies in the war to topple Assad.
In other words, the U.S. is on the wrong side in the Syrian civil war. It’s bad enough the U.S. is involved in a civil war in Syria – a war that is causing a massive refugee problem as well as inflicting death and destruction and suffering by innocents. But it’s worse that America is on the wrong side.
Is Russia on the right side out of any sense of humanitarianism?
Of course not.
Russia has strategic interests in Syria. That’s what its war on ISIS is all about.
But think about what is happening in this confrontation right now. The U.S. and Russia on opposite sides of a war in the Middle East. And the U.S. is clearly not on the right side, if there is one.
It’s bad.
It’s volatile.
It’s fraught with danger.
The Middle East is a very rough neighborhood, and the U.S. has made too many mistakes there in recent years. Obama hasn’t gotten a single thing right in the Middle East. He sided with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. He bailed out Iran in its bid to get nuclear weapons. He instigated the overthrow of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya, only to see jihadists take over. Now, when Iran is actually a moderating influence in Syria vs. ISIS, he’s taking sides against Tehran and Damascus.
In other words, Obama’s batting average in the Middle East is .000.
Is it incompetence – or worse?
What led to Russia’s intervention on a massive scale in Syria was a vacuum of leadership demonstrated by the U.S. Even Obama’s support for the overthrow of Assad was never serious. It was only half-hearted.
Look, it’s better for America not to interfere in foreign messes without a definition of victory and a willingness to win.
Once again, America looks weak. It looks like an undependable ally. It looks like a stumbling, bumbling fool, or, as Richard Nixon once described it, “a pitiful, helpless giant.”
That’s what we’ve become under Obama’s non-leadership.
And Russia has re-emerged as a decisive world leader.
Yikes!
It has all the makings of a flashpoint for World War III.
