IF YOU LOVE ME, PROVE IT - by Grace Olumayowa Aideloje
I love you!
How many times have you said this or heard it said? Many times and most times meaninglessly.
People have made light of this phrase that’s not only meant to convey trust and commitment, but also inspire action.
‘I love you’ is to be shown rather than said flippantly. When God wanted to say it to the world, He gave His son in a most painful, sacrificial manner. You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.
‘I love you Lord.’
We say it in prayer, sing it in worship, and shout it in praise.
But God is saying to us: ‘If indeed you love me, prove it. How do you prove that you love God?’ Obey Him. “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:3 (NET)
If you love God, you will love His Word, love His house, serve Him.
You can serve God spiritually, by praying for His church, speaking about Him to others and showing His love to the lost.
Physical service involves taking care of His temple; keeping it clean and decorated, helping to maintain decency and order, singing in the choir and many more, etc.
You can also serve God financially by giving of your substance to advance His kingdom on Earth. How are you showing your love for God? Do something specific today to demonstrate your love for Him
