How Obama Plans to Abandon Israel in Just One Sentence
These are dangerous times in the world. Our enemies are growing bolder: Russia is returning us to the Cold War, North Korea is saber rattling, anti-Semitic and Islamic terrorism is sweeping Europe, ISIS is racking up territories and atrocities, and Iran is heading toward the bomb. Meanwhile, President Obama is ready to forsake Israel because of a personal grudge against Benjamin Netanyahu and throw the region into more turmoil.
The President of the United States of America is not giving the benefit of the doubt to our strongest ally in the Middle East, according to the Huffington Post:
President Barack Obama is operating under the assumption that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not support the creation of a Palestinian state, despite the Israeli leader’s post-election efforts to recast himself as amenable to a two-state solution.“We take him at his word when he said that it wouldn’t happen during his prime ministership, and so that’s why we’ve got to evaluate what other options are available to make sure that we don’t see a chaotic situation in the region,” Obama told The Huffington Post in an interview released Saturday.
Let’s parse that astounding statement phrase by phrase:
“We take him at his word when he said that it wouldn’t happen during his prime ministership”
By saying this, and as even the Huffington Post noted in its introductory paragraph, Obama is holding Netanyahu to his own favored interpretation of his words and purposefully discounting Israel’s official explanation of its policy. Great way to treat an ally. Obama is trying to use this as an excuse to change decades of U.S. policy towards Israel.
I think it’s about time Obama starts taking Iran at its word. Why is he negotiating in good faith with a regime that has called for “the annihilation of the Zionist regime” and says it “must be wiped off the map.” Oh, and let’s not forget all the “death to America!” talk for the last 3 decades.
As Obama Press Secretary Josh Earnest helpfully explained last week, “Words matter.” But the Obama Administration gets to pick and choose which ones.
“we’ve got to evaluate what other options are available”
That’s pretty much Obama’s go-to move any time he doesn’t get what he wants. Can’t pass amnesty through Congress? Sign an illegal executive order. Can’t get the Senate to approve a treaty with Iran? Negotiate your own deal and try to hide the fact that it’s non-binding. Can’t get a Palestinian state because you don’t like your negotiation partner? Force it through the U.N.
The worst part about Obama’s illegal, unconstitutional, and destructive decisions is the long-term damage it will cause to the U.S., our allies, and the world. Even if Obama’s amnesty can be stopped, it has already allowed millions of illegals to stay and encouraged millions more to come in. Even if an Iranian nuke deal is reversed by the next president, it will still have allowed Iran to operate under it for at least a year. And any “peace” deal that doesn’t take Israeli security into consideration will be a deadly disaster for all sides.
“make sure that we don’t see a chaotic situation in the region”
You know 3 things that would REALLY cause a “chaotic situation in the region?” Doing a 180 on foreign policy and telegraphing to the world that America’s support of Israel is weak – yeah, that’s not going to make Israel’s many enemies lick their chops. Throwing Israel to the wolves of the U.N. whose number 1 priority is to condemn and eradicate the Jewish state. Attempting to ram through a Palestinian state over the objections of the biggest stakeholder, the one that has its very existence on the line.
And since when does Obama care about chaotic situations in the Middle East? He’s the one who pulled all of our troops out of Iraq, the only force providing any stability, and now he’s just sitting back and allowing ISIS to seize even more territory in the region.
He’s also the one promoting a nuclear Iran. This terrorist state possessing a nuke would be so destabilizing that even the Arab countries in the region are against it! Exactly what we need in the Middle East – an arms race!
More from HuffPo:
In his first public comments on Tuesday’s elections in Israel, Obama’s deepest discomfort was saved for Netanyahu’s Election Day warning about Arab Israeli voters going to the polls “in droves.”“We indicated that that kind of rhetoric was contrary to what is the best of Israel’s traditions. That although Israel was founded based on the historic Jewish homeland and the need to have a Jewish homeland, Israeli democracy has been premised on everybody in the country being treated equally and fairly,” said Obama. “And I think that that is what’s best about Israeli democracy. If that is lost, then I think that not only does it give ammunition to folks who don’t believe in a Jewish state, but it also I think starts to erode the meaning of democracy in the country.”
How precious of Obama to be concerned and lecture Israel on democracy while he shreds the Constitution here at home. And Obama is describing himself when he says “it give[s] ammunition to folks who don’t believe in a Jewish state” because that is exactly how he’s using Netanyahu’s words: as ammunition to “reconsider” our policy decisions.
These last two years of the Obama presidency will be a dangerous time for Israel, the United States, and the world. Let’s just hope we can all survive intact.
