Obama’s Illegal “Shadow” Immigration Program

U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, issued a statement today regarding new data, unearthed in a Freedom of Information Act request filed with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) by the non-partisan Center for Immigration Studies (CIS).

The explosive report is based data collected through the Visa Waiver Program administered by the USCIS that reveals that since 2009, the Obama Administration has issued millions of work permits to illegal immigrants far in excess of the amount of permits allowed by federal law.

Sessions described the massive fraud in the Visa Waiver Program as an illegal “shadow” immigrant amnesty that has been going on since the earliest days of President Barack Obama’s White House tenure.

According to a statement released yesterday, Sen. Senator Sessions said:

“Since 2009, 5.5 million foreign worker permits have been issued above the yearly flow of 1 million green cards and 700,000 guest workers, a massive surplus beyond existing numerical limitations. This drastic expansion of foreign workers, which includes many illegal workers, undermines jobs and incomes for all residents, including recent immigrants.”

 “This massive increase in the”(illegal)“labor supply has occurred simultaneously with a steep drop in family incomes and a sharp rise in the number of Americans pushed out of the workforce,”…“All jobs gains since the recession have gone to foreign workers, while the slack labor market has depressed median family incomes almost $5,000 in that time.”

Sessions promised a full investigation into the “shadow” work permit program as part of a larger examination into the “widespread non-enforcement of existing immigration law”.

Referring to the House-passed Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill that defunds the president’s executive amnesty, Sessions said the full Senate should vote in the interests of the people they represent and pass the bill.

“Any Senator who votes to block debate is voting to deny their constituents the protections of their own laws,” Sessions said. “Blocking debate on this bill is to block your own constituent’s voice in the affairs of their government.”

Sessions said the coming debate on the DHS bill would reveal which Senators who claim to represent American workers really stand on the issue of open borders.
