In a New York Times editorial yesterday, Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie wrote about her recent visit to Iraq. What the special envoy for the United Nations shared was shocking, sad and long overdue. Jolie explained that her fifth trip to Iraq since 2007 left her "speechless":
I have seen nothing like the suffering I'm witnessing now. ... What do you say to a mother with tears streaming down her face who says her daughter is in the hands of the Islamic State, or ISIS, and that she wishes she were there, too? Even if she had to be raped and tortured, she says, it would be better than not being with her daughter.
What do you say to the 13-year-old girl who describes the warehouses where she and the others lived and would be pulled out, three at a time, to be raped by the men? When her brother found out, he killed himself.
How can you speak when a woman your own age looks you in the eye and tells you that her whole family was killed in front of her, and that she now lives alone in a tent and has minimal food rations?

For the past five months, RUN Ministries has been one of the lone voices "crying out in the wilderness." We have been consistently telling you about this atrocities and desperately seeking your help. Thank you for what you've done to support a relatively small group of volunteers are doing everything within their power to rescue, renew and restore ISIS survivors in northern Iraq.
Because of your prayers and financial support, RUN has been able to provide tens of thousands of refugees with food, clean water, medicine, shelter and protection.
But as you read in Ms. Jolie's article above, there is still so much more to do. And with Washington, D.C. and most of the international community seemingly "asleep at the wheel," it's up to you and me to keep supporting the difficult, dangerous and lifesaving work that needs to be done every day in the Sinjar mountain region. Please click here to help.
+ + ISIS murders, rapes and kidnappings continue!
Because in the midst of our rescuing people and caring for their practical needs, ISIS continues its attacks on village after village. These brutal terrorists are murdering victims, raping women, and kidnapping and selling young girls into slavery.
Last week when ISIS attacked six villages, our teams tried to stop them. We do not know how many terrorists were killed, but two of our workers lost their lives -- and 74 young girls were taken by their fighters.
Please continue to stand with us in stopping this evil! Click here or on the icon below to support RUN Ministries' ongoing rescue and relief efforts in northern Iraq, and other vital outreaches, with your tax-deductible donation of any amount:
Your prayers and financial support are still desperately needed. Tens of thousands of ISIS survivors are depending on RUN Ministries for food, clean water, shelter and protection. The only way our volunteers can continue caring for these persecuted Christians, Yazidis and other religious minorities is if friends like you continue to help. Click here to donate now.
You are making an eternal difference in the lives of Iraqi refugees! Thank you for your faith, trust and generosity to RUN Ministries
