MAD WORLD
Muslim countries are a dangerous place for non-Muslims and especially Christian women. Rape, beatings, and kidnappings are a common way for citizens to punish the religious minority, and it has effectively driven out a large percentage of Christians from their homes.
As of 2012, a little over 500,000 Christian women remained in the country, a mere fraction of a percent, as opposed to 98 percent Muslims. This outnumbering proved disastrous for one family.
Two Christian women were brutally beaten and left to die by a Pakistani Muslim in the country’s capital. The reason is even more disturbing.
According to Pakistan Christian Post, Nusrat Bibi and her sister Rani Bibi were walking home from a local factory with their two daughters when the man approached the women, grabbed Nusrat’s daughter and began molesting her in public.
The girl, whose age was not released, managed to fight off the attacker, until he became enraged and began beating her with his cricket bat. He then grabbed her and began to lead her off, warning the mother and aunt not to follow him.
Knowing that the man intended to rape the girl, the mother and daughter attacked the Muslim, fighting long enough to ensure the girl’s escape. Infuriated, the man turned his attention to the two women and began beating them with his bat. Nusrat received more of a beating than Rani, PCP reports.
The man then threw Nusrat atop a garbage pile and fled the scene, leaving the injured women with torn clothes soaked. Nusrat received a broken arm and broken fingers.
“No one from the neighbors came forward to save them due to the man’s political [influence] and from his criminal past,” the report states. “Everyone locked their doors.”
The Bibis have called for an investigation, but police are reluctant to act, a common problem for minorities in Muslim countries. The report also states that the offender has threatened the family to desist pursuing charges.
Stories like the Bibis’ rarely receive any attention, but they occur daily. The women are lucky to be alive, but the entire family remains in danger as long as they remain in a Muslim country under discriminatory Islamic law.
